I'd say the leaves, the huge Pecans dropping from my trees, the Pyracantha turning from orange to red berries. The long slanted, golden light of fall that is like no other. One sound I will miss this year is our old football stadium was torn down as we have a new larger one, but I will no longer get to hear the announcer or the band playing the school song. I'll miss that.<BR/>October and the State Fair of Texas is such fun, November and making my brined turkey and Mom's Southern Cornbread Dressing and "tasting" it the night before. It's a time for taking stock, assessing the year and for just being. They are flying south in August so it's still summer, but I feel a little touch of sadness when I hear them.<BR/>I love the autumn colours!<BR/>I love the change in the weather all the time. My favorite things about autumn are the softly floating leaves, the varying hues of red, orange and yellow. the bright blue skies, and gentle breezes. The smell of firewood and burning leaves and the hopes of chilly nights to have a fire in the fireplace. Chili and cornbread - my family has a tradition of cooking our first pot of chili on Halloween night.
