Still Playing

Here are a few more shots, taken with the new camera. I still haven't cracked the manual open, but I've already taken close to 150 pictures. Anyway, these are some of my favorites. Who would have thought that my failure to put away the dishes from Christmas dinner would turn into a photo opportunity? That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

I'm still taking down Christmas decorations, and coughing my brains out. Can you tell that January is not my favorite month? It was 60 degrees here yesterday, though, which made up for a lot! We're supposed to hit 70 today, so I'll be outside enjoying the weather, and the rest of the Christmas decorations will just have to wait another day.

Have a wonderful day!

  2. Hi Mary
Your camera takes beautiful pictures! I was never into photography very much until I got my digital camera, I need the instant gratification of seeing what I took right away I guess. But since I got one I use it every day. I have had it 2 or 3 years and still havent read the manual all the way through. I have looked at a few pages that explained some problems but recently I have been thinking I need to see what else I could be doing with my camera that I dont know about! So I think one of these cold winter nights I'll crack open that manual and take a look. It could point me in a whole new direction with my photographs:>)Take care of that cold, lots of hot liquids:>)

  12. OK Mary, now you've gone and done it. I spotted a Pink Willow plate and you instantly sent me back in time to my grandmothers dining room. She had a full set of Pink Willow dinnerware and a large wall hanging printed in the design. How wonderful...what wonderful memories. Thanks.

  14. A kindred spirit! It never occurs to me to read any manual for anything I buy! My Mom has been coughing and they said at the doctor's that there is a virus going around. Maybe that's what you have. We live in Califonia, but you could have the same thing. I love your red toile dishes!!!!!

    Feel better!

    Your home is gorgeous.
It's 65 in northern NJ right now...

  27. Hi Mary,
My brother just recently gave me a transferware soup tureen and I believe it is the same pattern as yours. Do you happen to know the pattern name? I haven't had any luck in tracking it down. Cammy

  28. Take care of yourself dear Mary!
You DO take lovely photos and no one would begrudge you being outside shooting all those pretty pictures this week! The decorations can wait!

I still have not read my manual and I have had my camera for 9 months! Now THAT is bad huh?

I hope your coughing is at an end soon. Mine is just now winding down. IT seems to take so long...be good to yourself! You deserve it!

    Hugs,
    Sue

  29. Wonderful photos! Yes -- I need a camera too -- and was wondering what kind of camera you are using now? Thanks for any information!

Jan at Rosemary Cottage who is looking for cameras in all the wrong places .... LOL!

  30. Jan, My husbad chose the camera -- it's a Nikon D40. It's a digital SLR, and comes with a wide angle and a zoom lens. It has an automatic setting and manual also. I've only used the automatic so far, ad I find it very easy to use.

    Hope this helps.
    xoxo,
    Mary

  31. Mary, your pictures are beautiful! I'm still playing too with a new digi that I got and I can't quite get it down pat - of course I haven't read the manual either... hmm, what ARE all of those buttons for? ;-)

  32. Mary, you are bad like me. I too got a great new camera for Christmas, and it's so intuitive, I haven't yet pored over the manual, but I shall. I was sad to see the Christmas decor come down, but glad to see it crisp and clean again. --Kevin

A fellow transferware lover! And red, too! I love your photos and collection. I have a rather *ahem* large collection of red transferware myself. Love it!

What a great blog you have here. I've added you to my links on my site.
