Do you ever feel like a magpie, seeking out shiny things to bring back to your nest? I do. These are a few of my favorites.
How do you feather your nest?

Edited to add: Please take a minute to go on over to A Storybook Life, where two of my photos have been included in a post about "Creations Under Glass." The post is filled with luscious creations by very talented women, and I'm honored to have been included.
What pretty, pretty shiny things. What is the first one? Looks too small to be a pitcher....is it for sauces? And, of course, I love the spoons. I could become a spoon collector.....if I ever went anywhere! :-) Rosie
ReplyDeletePretty, love the spoons. I like to scout out yard sales and flea markets to find items that I just can't live without. Hopefully, I will discover a thrift store like yours.

Love all the silver...if the sun is not shining brightly, you have found it right in your home!

I have come to just love the shine of silver! I feather my nest with whatever strikes my fancy. I can't wait for the spring yard sales to begin so I can "shop". I love driving in the spring fresh air and meeting people and digging for treasures, it just adds to the adventure and fun. I have midwinter break from school today and may hit a couple thrift shops just for fun:>) Have a great day Mary!
ReplyDeleteYour collections are always so beautiful. Every time you display one of them here, I want to start one of my own. Let's see: I need to start a collection of dishes, silver, transferware, birds...
ReplyDeleteLove,
Julie
How lovely! I have a few pretty shiny things, but I like ceramics too and look out for pretty jugs and vases.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures Mary.
ReplyDeleteGood morning, Mary! Please come visit me; I have mentioned you in my blog.
ReplyDeletethanks
Cielo
You always find the most beautiful things to bring home.
ReplyDeleteLatley I am not happy with my feathering. I am working alot and but things between breaks and they are stacking up. I need time to get all my pretties out.
Mary,
ReplyDeleteI guess I am a magpie too! I love to collect these very same things--silver sometimes silverplate. My family lives in the south which is a treasure trove of old silver!

Oooooohhh...so pretty! I especially love the spoons! I always love to look at your dishes, but let me tell ya, looking at all this makes my heart skip a beat!
ReplyDeleteI have been visiting you for a while, but I think this is my first comment...so "Hi!"
Yes, and I just spend half a day polishing it all. Makes for strong forearms!

Have just taken a peek at the Under glass site, how simply beautiful, and well done for being included.
ReplyDeleteCan I come for tea!
Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteLove all of your shiny silver things.
Hugs,
Donna
So much pretty things. Me to feel lika a magpie - I am very found of both silver and pewter. But I do not have so beautiful things as you do.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun to find you lovely blog!
Your silver is beautiful! I love to feather my nest with, silver, china old and and new, crystal, and books.. lots of books!
ReplyDeleteI can definitely relate - I knew where you were going as soon as I saw the title. I find the most wonderful silver at thrift stores for very little - especially if it is tarnished and needs a little love. So easy to bring it back to life.
ReplyDeleteAlong with silver, I love dark wood furniture, blue and white china, and crystal.
Have a great day!
Hi Mary! you've definitely got my attention with all your beautiful silver pieces!! They are just beautiful! Thank you for sharing photos of your lovely treasures...
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Wren Cottage...I adored your "under glass creation"... so delicate and beautiful!

Your "under glass" project was my favorite one and they were all very nice...such a simple way to create something charming and whimsical.
ReplyDeleteOh you must save those vineyard pattern spoons for me when your nest get's too full. I love, love them. To put those out at a special occasion would really tickle me. Beautiful. I feather my nest with wine, it's getting pretty crowded over here.
ReplyDeleteO wow, you always have the prettiest things to display. I loveeeee that silver.
ReplyDeleteStephanie
Mary, you are just the cutest little Magpie, and I love the way you feather your gorgeous nest! Hope you're having a wonderful weekend sweetie!
ReplyDeleteAmanda (aka Cottage Contessa)
Beautiful and I love the comparison to the magpie. I had forgotten that magpies seek out shiny little things! Congratulations on your feature!
ReplyDeleteThe silver spoons remind me of a spoon I have. It was my grandmother's baby spoon. It's sterling silver and the year is inscribed on it; 1910 I think. I should get it out and polish it.
ReplyDeleteYes Ma'am!!!! I've already informed my family that when I come back it will be as a crow!!!! I am always on the lookout for the odd piece of silver, and I have some REALLY odd pieces!!! I have lots of spoons and keep them in a "spooner" on the kitchen table where we use them daily! I am also on the hunt for a few spoons that I can cut off at the bowl, and turn into napkin rings!! Fortunately for me, DH doesn't mind helping with my hairbrained ideas! Your finds are lovely, thanks for posting!
