This is my town. My daughter attends school here. We go to church here. I must drive through here every day of the year. On Saturday morning, I dropped my daughter off at school to get ready for a track meet, and I walked through town with my camera. It was a little misty, and town was empty at such an early hour. I don't always realize what a lovely place I live in. I complain constantly about the traffic, and how it has changed so much since I was young. But when you look through the camera lens, you see with new eyes. Welcome to my beautiful town!
yes indeed....it looks like a quaint and special place to live. Thanks for sharing your town. :-) Rosie
ReplyDeleteHi Mary~
ReplyDeleteI love your little quaint little town and know exactly where it is! I grew up in the next town over, Millin****(trying to respect your privacy!), and it has changed their a lot too! I ADORE that ANCIENT tree in the cemetary...how old is it now??? I used to go to "The Store" for dinner often when I was a teenager. Our attorney is right around the corner.
I knew that the architecture of your house looked very "jersey" to me, like so many houses I have been to in the area. I plan to take pictures in my neck of the woods too soon...just waiting for the landscape to get greener. See if you can guess where I live! This should be fun! I might even KNOW you!!!

Love the pic of the gnarled tree-a cozy place to live!

Your town is quite charming. You inspire us all to look at the familiar through new eyes. Enjoy every day in your town.
ReplyDeleteOh Mary,
ReplyDeleteHow quaint...I live in the NE and just love our town too....
Great photos...I especially love that little antigue store with the crooked bench. I wonder if you sit at one end do you slide all the way down, what kid (ahem adult) wouldn't like that...lol
Have a great day,
Kathy :)
Yes this is lovely. What a great place. Thanks for sharing your part of the world. Janie
ReplyDeleteIt is great to use a camera to edit out the distractions and focus on the simple beauty of a scene! I am enjoying this benefit of blogging so much. Thanks for the tour, I'm inspired to try this in my town now. Like you, I complain about the traffic, signs, and clutter. This way I can look for the "good" I'm missing!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how a camera lens brings out the details? It showcases what's always been there, and tells a hushed story that has only been a whisper until now.
ReplyDeleteAmanda:)
The town where you live looks wonderful. Looks like it is full of charm and character.
ReplyDeleteCheers Linda
What a nice walk through a lovely town. Thanks, Mary.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Donna
Oh, the quaintness of it is overwhelming. How I would love to live in a pretty town such as this.
ReplyDeleteThank you dearly for sharing these pictures....
hugs, bj
It looks like such a lovely town. Quaint homes and shops and loving that gnarled tree. I especially love the old brick sidewalks. You don't see many towns like this anymore and it's a shame.
ReplyDeleteYour town looks like a special place. Your post today made me stop and realize what a special place I call home! ~Adrienne~
ReplyDeleteA lot like the town in Massachusetts I grew up in. . .this was a beautiful post, Mary.
ReplyDeleteMichelle
What beautiful pictures. Thank you so much for sharing. Your town is beautiful. Your pictures made me miss St. Charles, MO. and Sandy Hook, NJ. and Cape May NJ from our Military days and travels. I LOVE old, historic towns! There's something intoxicating about them. What a blessing to live there.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary - I recognize your town which isn't far from mine. There used to be a nice quilting store there years ago.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures... take some more :)
You live in a lovely looking town! I had planned on doing a camera walk through my town soon too. I see others are going to. How fun to get little glimpses into all of our blogging friends lives...

Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteYes I know right where all those places are! Such a cute town!
Annie
That does look like a beautiful place to live. I love the brick sidewalks. That is something I really loved about Martha's Vineyard...I don't think I've ever seen brick sidewalks anywhere here in California and I really love them! There's something so special about the east coast that I just love (except for the weather)!
ReplyDeleteMary,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the reminder to open our eyes and appreciate where we are. So many things all around most of us are changing so rapidly that it does take a bit of effort to look to the beauty that surrounds us and overlook the not so beautiful.
Your town is lovely in every way that we are sharing with us here.
Hugs,
Sue
Mary you do live in a beautiful town. I love the stonework on the church.
ReplyDeleteLove the gorgeous flower on your banner.
Alison
Mary,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely town..I would enjoy living there! You are truly lucky..
Michelle
It does look beautiful. i wonder how many thigs in our lives we take for granted just because we see them all the time? Many I am sure!
ReplyDeleteYou live in a wonderful town! It looks so quaint and peaceful. I found your link from Abbie's Place where I saw the beautiful cherry creamer you gave her...where did you get that? I hang creamers from my chandelier in my kitchen I that would look lovely during the summer months...
ReplyDeleteKindredly, Lynne Laura
I totally agree. When I look at things I normally see, but don't really "see", I know it will look so very different through the lens of my camera. Good lesson to remember.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Hi Mary! What an adorable town! I would so love to wander down those streets. Great crooked bench in front of the little shop! I wonder how it feels to sit on there, go check it out next time and let me know! :) Please swing by my place when you get a chance, I posted another project and the whole posting process went a bit smoother this time! Thanks for the tips! ~ Laurie
ReplyDeleteIt is a beautiful town...so charming and with a New England "feel" to it. The traffic everywhere is crazy! I have to sit at one stop sign for ten minutes sometimes and I think, "This is nuts. We're going to have to become a two-light town." LOL!
ReplyDeleteGirl it is beautiful and I would love to see that everyday.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! It's so beautiful and quaint! Isn't if funny how looking through the camera lens can give us a new perspective?
ReplyDeleteQuaint little town there, I know how it goes. You can take what you have for granted so easily! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing a view of your world, Mary!

Hi Mary
ReplyDeleteYour town is so pretty! I have lived my whole life in one place and I think I take it for granted sometimes, and other times I complain that it is getting too crowded. But, like you, when I see it throuh the camera I seem to appreciate it more. Sometimes it's good to pretend to be a "tourist" and seek out all the special places in our own backyard!
Hugs, Pat
I love the photos---your town looks idyllic to live in. Thanks for sharing! (wish my town looked like that!)
ReplyDeleteYour town is picturesque Mary - reminds me of many small NE towns I enjoyed visiting when I lived in NH and MA. We have lovely old Southern towns surrounding us now and plan to take more road trips this year - with camera in hand of course!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your home town.
It is very easy to get caught up in everyday life and forget just how special the place you live in is. Your town looks particularly gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary
ReplyDeleteYou live in a charming town. It's the kind of life I've always imagined, living in a small town, feeling really connected with a community. Thanks for showing us a glimpse of your life.
Hope you have a great weekend. Rhondi xo
What a very cute town! You must be somewhere on the eastern part of the US?
ReplyDeleteHi Mary :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't grow up in the town we live in, but my husband did. He says that he never thought much of it until he saw it through my eyes. I love our little town and I think I would love yours almost as much ;)
rue :)
That is so true, and what a charming town you have there! There is nothing quaint like that in the megalopolis where I reside, but even here, the camera helps me find things to appreciate.
ReplyDeleteYour town looks like it is out of the pages of a storybook. I want to visit and go shopping in the antique store. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou have a very sweet town to live in. Love all of the American flags hanging - a breath of American spirit!
