A few years ago, my dear friend, Robin, was on a mission to visit every HomeGoods, TJMaxx and Marshalls in the northern half of New Jersey. Of course, I had to tag along. After all, what are friends for?
My husband and I had just had our kitchen renovated, and had a dishwasher for the first time in our married lives. So I decided that we needed to get a set of good dishes that we could use in our red dining room, and that could go in the dishwasher. And I happen to have a thing for transferware.
So I spent about six months gathering a set of reproduction Spode transferware. No two dishes are the same, and I love to look at all the different patterns.
Over the years, I have collected a few vintage and antique pieces as well. This covered sauce boat is one of my favorites. See my husband's salt and pepper shakers? Also my favorites.
So, a little more about the actual table settings: The glassware is Waterford, in the Donegal pattern. The linen napkins are edged in pink, and embroidered with a monogram. (No, it's not my monogram.) ;)
The centerpiece is my old standby faux flowers. The candlesticks are antique; bought in England years ago.
Bone-handled knives and coin silver spoons are from my collection of rag tag flatware. We never registered for gifts when we got married, so I have had a lot of fun collecting dishes and flatware in thrift stores and antique shops.
So that's my red Spode dinner. Many thanks to our sweet Tablescape Thursday hostess, Susan. Please visit Susan's blog, Between Naps on the Porch, for more wonderful tablescapes.
This table looks so rich and inviting. I love the red Spode and the crystal goblets. The antique silver flatware is so interesting too. Love this table Mary!

Can't go wrong with Spode. Everything thing they make is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWe must be a bunch of hens because everyone that visited the B-B-Q is wild about Mr. Rooster. You can tell it has gone to his head by the way he is posing.
If one must eat indoors your table is the place to be.
Cheers,
Candy
