The weatherman has promised us a nor'easter here in New Jersey today, so I thought a little bling might chase away the dark and dreary rain.
So here is a tray in the library, with a bit of gold to brighten the day for all of us. :) The dish is Minton; it's the only one I have of this pattern, and it belonged to my mom. The flatware is my usual -- bone knife and German silver spoon. Are you sick of seeing them yet again? ;) The placemat is actually a napkin. I can't resist things with a bit of gold in them. Can you?
Mother of pearl napkin ring from Target. (We pronounce it Tar-shjay. Doesn't everything sound better when you pretend it's French?))
The silver cup is a thrift store find, and the flowers are (unfortunately) faux.
Wherever you are, I hope you are getting better weather than we are! Many thanks to our gracious hostess, Susan. Please visit her blog, Between Naps on the Porch, for more wonderful tablescapes.
that plate is gorgeous...
ReplyDeleteas is the tablescape mary.
Hahaha--- you are almost as late to the party as I am! Lovely tray! GORGEOUS plate!

ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE that fish plate!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's lovely, Mary.
ReplyDeleteSo far no n'easter here, just some rain..
Have a great weekend!
I'm coming over there to weather these storms...I LOVE that china.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty spot to ride out the storm that is brewing. That fish plate is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so cozy! I'm in Illinois where it should be Indian Summer. October days are usually sunny and warm, days to spend on the deck with a book. I'm inside with the heat on, in a sweatshirt. We are gray, gloomy, cold and wet...again.
ReplyDeleteThe plate really is interesting and very fitting for a library setting. I enjoyed visiting you today.

Mary, The fish plate is gorgeous. It looks hand painted??? Your mother of pearl napkin ring is such a great "find". BTW, I would have never thought those flowers were silk if you had not mentioned. They too are beautiful. Lovely tray.

No, I'm not sick of seeing your bone flatware! But it does make me green with envy!
ReplyDeleteMy German students pronounces the word target as "tar jet". But I must say, I really like your pronouncation!
Absolutely beautiful Mary ~ you have such a great eye for composition, and such beautiful objects. And your photography is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThank you for inviting us in ~ Happy TT! xo
HI Mary! Better late than never! Your tray is so pretty. I love that plate. You always make pretty!
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Sheli a :)
Mmmm. Totally love those fish plates.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary, I am late today. I am not a regular for the tablescape but did one today. Pop on over and have a cuppa tea, it is so dreary and chilly I need cheering up. I love the fish plate and no not tired of the flatwear. I have stuff I even forget about until I start looking around for something to blog about. I was lucky and had berries outside for a bouquet. Blessings

Kelly -- it belonged to my mom. I have no idea where she got it. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Mary, beautiful tray in the library! We pronounce Target like that too and Wal-mart is 'Chez Walmart':) I missed doing MM but have learned to incorporate them into TT's! I take SO many pictures...it seems so logical!
ReplyDeleteYour Mother's plate is beautiful-it reminds me of similar limoge pattern.
Michelle
I love the fish plate.
ReplyDeletethis is definitely a place setting to lift the spirit. very elegant lodge feel to it all. i love things that take you away to another place.
ReplyDeleteps. love your fall mosaic...gorgeous.
what beautiful pictures...definitely brightened up the view here, we did have a dreadful rainy day in NJ and I hear it's not over yet!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty setting.
ReplyDeleteI think worldwide it must be known as Tar-shjay because here in Australia we jokingly call it Tar-shjay too!!LOL

Most of the flowers will be faux here for a long time to come. We are expecting snow today, had flurries and sleet yesterday. Brrr. Your setting looks so nice and cozy! My Dad would have loved that plate. He enjoyed fishing (not that he ever caught any, but he liked to sleep on a rowboat in the middle of a lake).
ReplyDeleteI love all the pretty colors you used and I love the fish plate!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day!!!
Its such a nice plate.. It looks like it is raining everywhere. We have rain in İstanbul, too
ReplyDeleteHmm...weather here is as bad or worse. Aaarrrgh!
ReplyDeleteLove the Minton plate. Pretty setting ... please pour the tea now.
ReplyDeleteAwesome plate! Never tire of seeing any of the beautiful pieces you collect, Mary! This was the perfect place setting for a cozy library...I think I could see a roaring fire...yes, definitely a nice hot fire to go with our meal. :-)
ReplyDeleteSusan
What a gorgeous plate, and how wonderful that it belonged to your mother. laurie
ReplyDeleteLOL yes, everthing does sound "fancier" in French! Last weekend I threw a Fancy Nancy Party for my daughter's 5th birthday. You may not be familiar with Fancy Nancy but she is a character in a series of books that likes to use "fancy" words and many are in French! My post this week was all about the party!
ReplyDeleteLove your plate, it is very unique! Have a great weekend!
Karyn
Our weather is perfect here right now, but in Texas it will change in an hour or so. I am a little late but your tablescape is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBarbara
I, too, am a bit late getting to view all the TT postings. I've had the flu & your warm, inviting pictures made me feel better just to look at them, Mary. I treasure items that belonged to my parents & feel them close when I wash & dry such things. Seeing your gorgeous plate was almost like a {{HUG}} from that generation.
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing it to us!

Love the fish plate! Stay warm up there.
