I don't know whether it was all the snow this winter, or all the rain this spring, but the flowering trees have been especially beautiful this year. Or maybe they just seem more lovely because it was a rough winter.
Here are a few photos of the crabapple tree in our front yard. It's getting a little old now -- I won it in a poetry contest when I was in first grade. Yes, that is a long time ago. lol
But even though the trunk is gnarled and the blooms may not be as numerous as on younger trees, it is still the belle of the ball come spring. And it smells divine!
Now let's have some mosaic fun! Here are the instructions:

but Spring herself is dawdling along..
taking her own sweet time here in Denver..
She'll still be struttin' her stuff..
in all her glory...
when Summer makes her entrance elsewhere..
warmest hugs.. laughing smiles..

Beautiful photos Mary! A breath of fresh Spring air!
ReplyDeleteThe spring flowering trees have been especially beautiul this year!
ReplyDeleteSo often the petals that fall to the ground under the tree are missed. What a shame, as they have their own beauty. I was glad to see that you included them in your mosaic - beautiful.

ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! What special memories...the first grade...I hope it lives forever.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was a little girl, my parents planted a crab apple by my bedroom window. I used to look out and admire the pretty pink blossoms. It is still one of my favorite trees!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Susan and Bentleyxxoo
I love the soft pinkness of crabapples!
ReplyDeleteLove it, just beautiful! - makes us miss our crab apple tree in PA. We would always look forward to the cedar waxwings to appear once a year for a few days - they loved our tree.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Darryl and Ruth : )
My Mom and Dad use to have a Crabapple tree right outside their picture window in the living room. It was so pretty each spring with its pink blossoms. They finally had to cut it down as it no longer flowered and no longer looked healthy. To this day, I miss that tree. Your lovely mosaic brought back those wonderful memories!
ReplyDeleteI tend to see our senior trees with beauty all their own. I am sure that most of us weathering the elements and the change of seasons as many trees have seen would wish to be so beautiful. Time takes its toll on all of us it seems.
ReplyDeleteI think all of the reasons! Just perfect, Mary!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for hosting again I Love your pics they are so pretty!!

Spring is always welcome. Your crabapple photos are lovely.
ReplyDeleteLove all the mosaics!
ReplyDeleteThese beautiful blossoms remind me of the orchard we had when we lived in BC's Okanagan Valley. What a magnificent time of year for you Mary. Thanks for sharing what you see with us.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos, and nice mosaic. What software do you - or others - use, for their mosaics? I've tried hacking them together in Photoshop, but it is so time consuming, and troublesome.
ReplyDeleteThe pink is so dainty! Love the crabapple blooms.
ReplyDeleteAnd your trees hold a lot of sweet memories!
Garden Lady, I use Big Huge Labs. There is a link to a tutorial on my sidebar that includes a link to Big Huge Labs.
