The Ghost of Breakfasts Past

What's for breakfast at your house this morning? I've been in a rut for the past few weeks -- a fiber bar and a glass of water. Looking back over these photos of breakfasts past has gotten me in the mood for something different -- something fresh and real and not processed and wrapped in foil... maybe a fresh fruit salad, or homemade banana bread, or blueberry pancakes...

Mmmm, blueberry pancakes. :)

  1. This morning is an omelet filled with provolone cheese, tomatoes, mushrooms and spinach. A side of an english muffin toasted with butter and coffee.
Love the pics of your breakfasts. The jam looks delicious!

  5. Almost time for breakfast!! I usually eat a bowl of oatmeal and finish up with a egg and cheese open-faced sandwich. I am stuck in a rut too but it keeps the blood sugar even.

  8. Mmm...lovely pictures!
Mostly I have dry cereal and juice for breakfast during the week days. In winter I usually have oatmeal instead of cold cereal. I have to leave my house at 7:15 am for work, so I don't have much time for anything else. Weekends are when I spend more time at breakfast with my tea or coffee. I might make Belgian waffles, scones or we'll have egg in a basket and yogurt parfaits! Yummy!

    I don't do much breakfast. I find it always make me starving by lunchtime. I know ~ I know - it's the most important meal . . . yeah, well . . .
Only if we go out! then I do it RIGHT!
Have a great day. go fix something yummy. I'll be right over . . .

  12. Ahhh, I remember some of those breakfasts...all in fact except for the honey dew melon one. We're in a rut here, too, because we're dieting. Ruts are just easier. Oatmeal, orange juice, and two slices of turkey bacon. I'd love some fresh fruit, too!

  15. We did blackberry pancakes a few mornings ago, and French toast this morning; having house guests sharpens my culinary skills and ambitions. Even lunches have taken on new powers!

when it's empty nest again, it will be back to yogurt and black coffee. Only not together.
    Lovely photos!
    LOVE your lighting.

  16. Thanks, everyone!

Erin, the top two photos were taken with a Nikon D40. The bottom two with a Nikon D300s. All were shot with a Nikkor 60mm f2.8 lens. Hope this helps. :)

  20. Anything placed on a beautiful dish will make breakfast taste better. It's usually Peanut Butter, homemade Jam on Dave's Killer Blues Bread toasted. Kind of boring but it's just the right amount of texture, sweet and filling! But seriously I would rather be eating the croissant in the first photo, but then too much of that would have devastating results!

  23. Hi Mary - Oatmeal with walnuts is my favourite. I wonder if you can help me - both times I've tried to link to your mosaic lately a red x has appeared by my name. I just tried clicking on my name in your list and it took me to an earlier post (MAY 23RD) Any suggestions? Thanks Mary.
