Mosaic Monday: Snowy Beauty

While I don't really look forward to snowy weather, I do appreciate how beautiful it can be, and I always hope for a little dusting around the holidays. So I guess I can call this another white Christmas mosaic. I'm so sorry it's rather small. I have to admit that I'm not really feeling Christmas too much yet. In fact, I'm in a bit of a funk. Just thought I'd put that out there. I know that the holidays can be difficult for some people, and that sometimes the stress of trying to make the perfect storybook Christmas instead just makes us depressed. So I'm going to take a moment to look around and appreciate the beauty all around me. I'm going to take one day at a time, and see where that leads me. Hopefully, it will lead me to a merry Christmas. :)

Here are the instructions to join today's post:
1. Publish your Mosaic Monday post. The post may be about any subject you wish. The only stipulation is that it include a collage, or mosaic of photos.
2. Once it is published, click on the title of the post. This will lead you to the static link for your post. The static link is the page with only that post on it. Copy the url from your browser at the top of the page.
3. Paste the url into the appropriate inlinkz box in this post.
4. Type your name in the appropriate inlinkz box in this post.
5. Click on "Enter."
6. Please link back to this Mosaic Monday post so that your readers can find other wonderful mosaics.
That's all there is to it! It's always a good idea to then check and see if your link is working. If you have any questions, feel free to email me: mrcarroll(at)optonline

And a quick reminder: if you would like to join Mosaic Monday but don't know quite where to start, there is a tutorial on mosaic-making on my sidebar. Just scroll down, and click on the small blue mosaic.

  3. Hi Mary, lovely frosty photos, I am not much of a winter person. I do enjoy seeing the snow and just seeing it on photos would make me happy. I do wish you a very Merry Christmas. Take care and have a great week.

  4. Hello Mary
I love the frozen beauty of winter, especially icy branches and snow laden boughs.
Perhaps a bit more snow and cranking up the Christmas tunes will help.

  6. Mary,
I can get in a bit of a funk myself. If it's a "perfect Christmas" one is after, mine won't be it, but it will be simple and pleasant, I hope.
Please treat yourself kindly, go for a walk, take a bath, whatever works for you. Know that your generosity in hosting Mosaic Monday is appreciated and that I hope you feel more like yourself soon.

  9. I think this is an unusual Christmas for many this year, Mary, as I've heard many say it has been hard to get in the Christmas spirit.
Now that my kids and grandkids are all far away in Colorado my heart is there with them.

  15. Beautiful winter mosaic - thankyou.
We all need to be reminded to appreciate the beauty and blessings around us. I always take awhile to get into the Christmas spirit. My Christmas tree was only hauled out last night and still stands in the corner waiting to be decorated....maybe tonight...and then when I see all the baubles and lights....I will start to feel it.
I know your family has been going through some sad times lately, so take care.
And thank you again for the opportunity to contribute.

  16. This too shall pass...I'm just getting out of a funk myself, Mary! Sometimes just admitting it out loud allows us to get on with it. Hope you can sit back relax and regroup, let the holiday magic transpire and start feelin' some joy!! Thanks for mosaic Monday, my weeks don't go well without it!

  19. A pretty Winter mosaic. I did not get one ready this week, to much other going on. Sadly - I have heard many saying they did not have the spirit this year. I also am slacking.
Thanks for hosting again this week - hope to be back next week.

  21. Love the bright red with the white and brown.

I have been in a photographer's funk as well. I started a new job and we've had the most amazing weather making ideal conditions for beautiful winter photos and I can't take any because of no time in the morning on my way to work (up before sunrise so getting up earlier won't help) and I get home after dark. It has quite depressed me.

  26. Winter is a difficult time and around where I live it's always hard to tell what kind we're going to have. Last year snow came early and stayed all winter. This year we've had mostly storm and rain but with some snow and ice in between. Not the 'romantic' Christmas card kind, more just the problem-causing kind! Taking one day at a time is really often the best policy...

  28. I love your mosaics today. You can feel the chill of the icy limbs, but appreciate the glory of the red berries. I do hope your mood lifts soon. Sometimes we just have to let the worries go for we cannot change anything by worrying. Take some deep breaths and I hope your reflections lead you to a very Merry Christmas.

  29. What lovely shots of nature. We all rush around trying to make things ready for Christmas and we forget that stress is not good for us! I know- I'm still working on getting up my eighth tree~ aaaggghhh.... Take care and thanks for hosting.

  30. Taking one day at a time is the best way, I think. There are so many expectations put on this season. I love your snowy shots. We have nothing but brown and green - oh a little frost on the ground this morning makes things look a little wintry.

  31. I know what you mean, going one day after another sounds like a good thing....lot's of 'being-in-the-moment' smiles your way, Anke :)

Beautiful snow shots...and I feel the same like you about that white beauty which can turn into an ugly mess fast here in Germany, lol :)

  32. You mosaic is beautiful. I agree with you on not loving the snow other than how it looks! I'm also having a hard time getting in the Christmas spirit this year. I've done almost no decorating other than my tree. I'm very disappointed, it's something my daughter looks forward to all year, and this year I feel like I'm letting her down by not finding the excitement. I think maybe it's just going to hit me a little later this year.

  33. I hope that before too long you will be feeling the joy of Christmas. i find that music is what helps me and after attending a wonderful performance of a community choir that could have stood on any concert hall stage, I came home looking forward to the wonder of the season. All the best for a special Christmas season Mary!

  34. I look forward to some dustings soon too.

  35. My Mother passed away just 4 days before Christmas 5 years ago. I found out quickly that in order to keep me out of a funk, I put up all of my Christmas decor as early as possible . Now when I get home in the evening, I open the door to a blessing. Hope your spirits rise soon.

  36. I absolutely love snow and I am still waiting for our first snow storm....impatiently:( We are having another unseasonably warm week here in RI!

Hope you are having a great week!

  37. Mary, this Christmas makes three out of four Christmases in this new home when something heartbreaking and out of our control has happened, too. Thankfully, this year, it's nothing of the magnitude of your pain. and, I don't know what to say about it - I just feel loving wishes for you and your family and strange peace for myself. and, I feel, this morning, with the wind making the pale solstice sunshine flicker through the windows, what your photos are speaking to me - gentle joy and hope. Every Christmas is different but never blase!=]

Well, honestly, I don't know WHAT to say - I'm 'just sayin''. I'm glad that there were so many kind and encouraging comments that went before and lifted you up!!! =]

  38. as a californian i know i idealize snow...winter...etc...but let me tell you...those shots are simply magical! as to the loss...we too had an extremely painful loss last Monday, why is it that a loss at Christmastime is SO much more painful? but it is...we are not the first to experience this...we won't be the last...but we will go on and somehow be better and stronger for it...in time.
