Double Yuck

I have never been a big fan of winter; usually by mid-January I am longing for spring. This year it wasn't really too bad -- I have been walking a lot, getting lots of sunshine which really does make a difference in my mood.

But then I got this stinking cold.

Yuck. I really don't want to share all the disgusting symptoms, but suffice it to say that this has not been a good couple of days. Finally, I went to the doctor to learn I have a nasty virus that turned into bronchitis. Now that I have some drugs, it should be getting better.

Sooner rather than later, I hope.

In the meantime, I have these lovely tulips from my daughter. And even feeling crappy, I could not resist taking a few pictures. ;) We had the nastiest weather here yesterday -- snow and freezing rain that turned to all rain with temps in the high 30's.

Yuck. (That's two yucks, if you are keeping score.)

So, I hope everyone is well, and warm and dry. There is something about the color red, isn't there? It just warms the spirit.

Happy Wednesday, dear bloggers!

  1. Take good care Mary. Hope it won't be long until you're enjoying your walks in the sunshine again! It's been snowing for the past two weekends and in between here so I'm beginning to get a little cabin fever. Our spring will come in May so no point in getting too down in the dumps yet! Keep warm!

  7. Double yuck for sure! I heartily agree with you on the yuckiness of winter, I'm a girl who needs her sunshine. I sure hope you feel better soon! Hot tea, warm soup, and doing as little as possible should set you back on your feet, and (yay!) we are halfway through January already!

  10. We're just enough north of you that ours turned to ice. Now our long driveway is a total sheet of ice.

I hope you feel better soon. Winter, gray skies and feeling sick can be daunting.

  11. Hello Mary,
I'm sorry that you're not feeling well...it's the time of year for getting sick. Beautiful photo's ...I agree that there is something about red that makes me happy. It reminds me of my mother...who seemed to always have something on that was red...and with her black hair it just suited her. We have freezing rain turning to snow here in Kansas today...yuck. I hope you're feeling better today.

  15. Sorry you are still sick but it should start getting much better..
As you might remember, my favorite time of the year is winter but...could be 'cause we have been having high 60's weather. :)) Not a lick of snow or rain...which we sooo need or else we will all be covered in dust come Spring.(which is why Spring is my LEAST favorite time...many MANY sandstorms out here in West Texas.)
    Feel better..

  31. Double yuck, indeed!

Mary, I saw the beginning of this post, briefly, and saw that you were sick and I've been thinking about you. I'm so glad that you're feeling better.

Now, speaking of seeing peeks of the beginning of posts - I just saw something for a second - on a blue plate - that made me GOL! (GaspOL! =])

I'm off to go take a look....
