Dear Spring,
As you probably know, I have been waiting impatiently for your arrival. After snowstorm upon snowstorm, during endless cold nights and gray days, I have dreamed only of you. I long to feel the warm kiss of your sun on my cheek; I dream of wandering through fields of golden daffodils, cutting armloads of forsythia and hearing the dawn chorus greet the day.
So imagine my surprise when I awoke on Monday morning to ice and snow weighing down the branches of my beloved sugar maple. And although the sight of the brave red buds with their mantle of white was beautiful, it was discouraging as well. And I think, perhaps, that there will be more snow here by the time you read this.
So please, dear Spring, come home soon and stay. I miss you.
xoxo,
Mary

Oh Mary ~ I long for spring as well. We had a couple of days of warmth and the ice and snow are back. Sigh ;-)
ReplyDeleteWinter is getting long in the tooth and I am eager to see spring, too. Wonder what could possibly be keeping her?? Must be stuck in an airport somewhere in Siberia. Do they even have airports there? Anyway, yours is a plaintive request and I hope that you are heard.
ReplyDeleteMary, your post is just beautiful. The letter overlay technique is gorgeous. I always enjoy seeing your photography. Hang in there...spring will be there before you know it. Carla
ReplyDeleteWith a beautiful love letter like that, I am sure Spring is speeding your way!
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful images!

Who/what could resist such a sweet plea??? You may have done us all a favor because, surely, spring will respond favorably to your winning request....I hope! =]
ReplyDeleteI hope spring appears at your door soon. The pictures and post are beautiful.

ReplyDeleteSpring can't help but respond to this plea, accompanied by telling and beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteLove this processing of images.
ReplyDeleteDear Spring...
ReplyDeleteI read Mary's message to you. Now I have one question for you, Spring? Are you an illusion? Are you a fragment of our long ago imaginations? Are you just something we dreamed about but not a reality?
Spring, if you ARE real, you certainly are taking your sweet time to get here. I, for one, will not give up on you. I know you will eve ntually surface, if you can climb out from under the new snowfall which is forecast for tonight.
Spring, please, don't walk, but RUN to us? Will you? Susan
Dear Mary,
ReplyDeleteI am here dear heart, just a little slow this year. But i will be by to visit shortly...and oh what a swee time we will have together! I look forward to all the lovely photos you will take of me!
Love,
Spring
Amen, sister!
ReplyDeletePS...MPM misses you too!
ReplyDeleteOh Mary -- from your lips to Spring's ears!
ReplyDeleteCan you believe today's weather? We had way more snow than I thought we would, AND we just had thunder and lightning. Good grief, the world's gone just a wee bit nuts.
We're off to the beach house for a long work weekend tomorrow morning ... I am not looking forward to that slog thru the city in more snow!
Hope all is well with you. I have not been a faithful blogger lately, and daughter Anne has my laptop so my commenting has been scarcest of all. Mea culpa.
Happy Spring! Please!
Cass
i am in total agreement...i want spring to come and stay. we have had a beautiful week of weather but it is supposed to drop down to thirty~one by the weekend. we have been working nonstop in the garden because we knew it wasn't going to last. here's hoping for your weather to make the change to spring...soon.
ReplyDeleteyour photos are wonderful and the overlays are amazing.
happy days of spring.
Well, I think Spring should comply, especially after you've asked it so nicely.
ReplyDelete(beautifully photographed, Mary) And I love the processing!
What a beautiful post. Perfectly posed words coupled with stunning photography. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteAnd, I feel the very same way...
I hope spring hears your eloquent plea, because I'm so ready to say goodbye to snow. Lovely photos as always. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMary I would love to also sign your letter to spring, we have had more snow and cold temperatures. Enjoy your week.
ReplyDeleteOh how I understand how you feel Mary. We had some beautiful weather a couple of weeks ago..in the 80's and my lilac buds are starting to come out. Now I look at the weatherman's prediction for the weekend and Monday and we have rain mixed with snow. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we don't loose our beautiful lilac blossoms this year. If it was only a lone shrub I would cover it but we have 2 very long groves. Oh well...we'll just hope the weatherman is wrong. I hope you get to enjoy some beautiful weather this weekend. Take care.
ReplyDeleteMaura :)
I forgot to mention how much I LOVE what you've done to these photo's...they are GORGEOUS! I went to the web site you mentioned...are these textures/overlays for sale? I'd LOVE to try my hand at some of these! Beautiful photography Mary as always. Thanks. Maura :)
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel ... we had about a foot of snow dumped on us last Wednesday. Nothing has started to bud yet and it looks like it will be awhile before it does. *sigh* These images are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Mary
