I've been playing with some supermarket flowers this week. It's something I always do during the winter, as I wait for spring and the emergence of the early buds.
With the tremendous array of flowers available these days, carnations may seem a little pedestrian. But I have to say that these white ones caught my eye. I love the purity of color, and the beautiful hint of cloves in their ghostly fragrance.
For those of you who love photography and enjoy photo editing, all three of these images were edited using Sarah Gardner Renaissance Textures. They are available on her blog -- eight textures absolutely free, or ten textures for a $3. donation which will be given to the Tiny Sparrows Foundation, a non-profit organization which is dedicated to providing lasting memories through the art of photography to families whose children are facing life-threatening illnesses. This is such a wonderful cause, and I encourage you to visit Sarah's blog and take advantage of this offer, or click on the link to the Tiny Sparrows Foundation and learn more about their mission.
Thanks for the tip, Mary. I'm heading over to Sarah's blog right now.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos of an overlooked flower
Your images are beautiful as always, and thank you for letting us know about these wonderful textures. I just donated and got a set!
ReplyDeleteKat :)
...Your photos are nothing short of spectacular. :o)
ReplyDelete...Thank you so much for the link. I just visited and had to say how captivated I am by the work they do there and their mission - it's truly a gift. It reminds me of the website, "Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep" ( http://www.nowilaymedowntosleep.org/ ) Needless to say, both are worthy of your donations and if you're a photographer - your time.
...Thank you for sharing!
...Blessings :o)
Oh! Thank you very much, Mary. Wondering how you've been lately. And I adore these. Love!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images Mary! I chuckled at your adjective "pedestrian" for the carnation. I am from a family of flower growers and that description strikes me funny! I'm going over to Sarah's blog from here, thanks and have a "rosy" day:)

ReplyDeleteThese photos are beautiful. We are all eager for spring and flowers. I discovered today that my tulips are peeking out of the ground. I'm glad to see them but worried they will be damaged by the cold.
