OK, so I'm not ready for Christmas. Every year, I find myself still in the throes of fall when everyone else in blogland is showing their holiday decorations. Frankly, I'm hoping that a stroll around all your posts will get me in the mood. Because I'm just not feeling it this year...
Bah, humbug.
So here are a few of the photos I've been working on lately, in between the mad dash to make up cards and gifts for my portrait clients. Fog, old books, and little pieces of nature -- three of my favorite things. :)

Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteDon't feel too bad; I'm in the same boat, just not feeling it due to my daughter being in Toronto with the rest of my family! In the meantime, there is fog, rain and mist among the Cretan countryside to keep me company.
Beautiful photos.
Thanks for hosting!
Poppy
Mary, the pieces and scenes of nature are lovely. I have my tree up and decorated and I started my shopping but I do not feel the mood just yet. Your photos and mosaic are beautiful. Thank you for hosting, have a happy week!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I think people rush christmas too. I usually start decorating after Thanksgiving. This year we downsized our decorating.
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures...one looks eerie :)
ReplyDeleteI never start decorating until after Thanksgiving and many people wait until the second week of December...it's early yet :)
Fog is always so mysterious and a bit enchanting! You have captured both for me. I began decorating the 5th of December this year, I remember my Mother would never start until the 15th, so we all have plenty of time if we follow her guidelines!-I am happy that I have something to share this week-
ReplyDeleteJemma
I am not ready for Christmas either. I have not been able to focus on the holidays this year.
ReplyDeleteWe had fog this morning and with all the ice on the trees, it was eerie and pretty at the same time. Wished I had taken pics, but it was just to cold to get out.
Thanks for hosting!
Lovely soft mosaic! It's kinda hard to get in the spirit when it's 80 degrees outside! So I'm not ready for Chtistmas either.
ReplyDeleteI am ready...it's all the cookies& thoughts of giving that get me there!...:)JP
ReplyDeleteI found that once there weren't any little ones to rev up the excitement of Christmas, it was hard to catch the magic. Then along came grandchildren and it's been fun again but now we're slowly getting back to the same point.
ReplyDeleteWatch a few Christmas movies to get in the spirit Mary.
Judith
I'm not fully decorated for Christmas. either, Mary Trying to do a little at a time and enjoy the process. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you get to do something festive this week to put you in the mood! Sweet hugs!
ReplyDeleteSame here. We just moved into our new home a few days before Thanksgiving, and there's still so much to do that Christmas decorating has been stressful. It's pretty much done, thank goodness, but the house still isn't decorated (hardly any curtains even) and I haven't bought even one Christmas gift. (And the budget is very limited since now I have to purchase my own health insurance and had to leave my old job before moving. I'm gonna have to get the creative juices flowing this year).
ReplyDeleteLucy is right. I sometimes think Christmas would be A LOT more fun if not for all the commercialism. ;o)
Kristin
You are not alone. I'm going to decorate when I feel like it. I just hope it's before Christmas.
ReplyDeleteNo I am not really ready for Christmas yet either. My husband has put up the Christmas lights, and we wrote our cards yesterday, but the Christmas tree is still in the box. I had promised myself to do it today, but I have other things to do as well. Soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting, Mary.
ReplyDeleteMary,
ReplyDeleteYour photography is always inspiring, dear friend!!!
Here's to hoping that the Spirit of Christmas falls afresh on thee!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Such beautiful photos, Mary.
ReplyDeleteI am not feeling the spirit very strong, either. I have decorated this new house but just barely. Hoping things will pick up this week.; :)
hugs, bj
Love the photos, especially the last one.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday!
Beautiful shots. I'm a bit bah humbug, too!
ReplyDeleteThis year is different for me I'm not hosting Christmas dinner and the decorating and shopping are not getting done.
ReplyDeleteHopefully I'll snap out of it in the next day or two. Lovely pictures at the start of your post. Thanks for letting me join the party.
Denise
Thanks for hosting Mary. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteRob
I love your last photo of the fog! I hope checking out Christmas related posts will help you get into the Holiday mood. :)
ReplyDeleteYour photos are always so beautiful and especially these. I am recovering from some health issues and not in the mood at all for Christmas, so it was almost encouraging to me to read of someone else who is not into the holiday spirit. I have to stay centered and focused on what I feel like doing each day and not feel pressured to do more than I am feeling at the moment. I wish you the best.
ReplyDeleteMary, I love your quiet images. Thank you for hosting the party :)
ReplyDeleteLove the spooky winter trees........great shots!
ReplyDeleteRuby
These are beautiful shots. Love the soft hazy woods. I am ready for winter break from work, if that counts. :-)
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your honesty. Seems I can never get ready for Christmas. As much as I plan and try to get as much shopping done as possible, Christmas is always here before I know it.
ReplyDeleteLove your foggy photos.
So happy to hear I am not alone. This is a first for me, December 12 and not one Christmas ornament out! I still have the cornucopia and gourds on the counter (probably should check them for mold?) I'm hoping the Christmas spirit will come along soon though! Love your photos, always so dreamy and romantic, that's what I love about visiting your blog.
ReplyDeleteI'm not ready either and it is approaching at the speed of sound.
