Unexpected Beauty

As gardeners, I think that we sometimes get distracted by the flowers.  They are the undeniable stars of the show.  But look more closely, and you will see a wealth of beauty in the minor characters.  Leaves, buds, seedpods and hips all have their own quiet fascination.  Even stems can be beautiful.  These are just a few examples from our Little Red House.  For more, please visit my new photoblog, In a Soft Light.

Thank you so much for your anniversary wishes yesterday!   You are all so sweet.  :)

  2. Hi Mary! As I sit here in No. California amid awful the smoke and 100+ temps, your beautiful photos of lush green are so welcome! Beautiful...

  3. Exceptional photos, Mary ... It amazes me that there are so many "pictures just begging to be taken" that are often overlooked. I see them everywhere I go. I just wish I had time to take all of them.

I gave you an award this morning on "Southern Lagniappe." It's called the "Just Plain Fun to Read" award and I think it's very appropriate for your "Little Red House."

Hope your day is filled with lots of "pictures begging to be taken."

    Sincerely,
    Janie

  8. What beautiful greenery. I've been known to buy plants simply because of the fact that their leaves cause water to bead up. LOVE IT.

I'm hopping over now to visit your photoblog. Good for you!

  17. I totally agree with you -- sometimes the foliage just becomes the backdrop to the blooms! Love these shots -- they are beautiful!

  22. Hey, happy anniversary. Sorry I missed telling you that. I've been internet-less for almost a week but I'm back now. Love this post and the pictures. Also like that magazine cover. It's fun. Now to visit your photography.

Thanks for your support over the past week, Mary, and the kind words you left for me each day. Don't know how I would have gotten through without a little help from my friends.
