Thursday's Inspiration: Tree
Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time. ~J. Lubbock
And this, our life, exempt from public haunt, finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, sermons in stones, and good in everything. ~William Shakespeare
I find myself grasping for words today, so I must let others speak for me. I ♥ trees. :)
Now, for the next few weeks, let's see...
May 2: spring
May 9: breakfast
I will be out of town from May 13th through May 23rd, so no posts for those weeks, except if someone else wants to take over?

So much to say about trees, but hard to express thoughts. Your quotes are wonderful, as is your simple three words - I love trees. Yes.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful old tree, Mary!
ReplyDeleteWould love to know it's story,Mary. I love the daffodils..
ReplyDeleteI am on a break. Not really a break though. We are at the lake prepping the condo for listing. The agent will be here in a few minutes. It's been a busy week.
Thanks so much for hosting!
Gorgeous tree..
ReplyDeletehave a wonderful day.
Mary,
ReplyDeleteGlorious daffodils and the huge aged tree takes my breath away!!!
As a child, I climbed trees all the way to the top!!!
As a youth, I lay beneath them in the grass enjoying their shade!
As a parent, I had picnics with our sons beneath the shade of the trees!
Today, I gaze upon their beauty and smile!!!
Thanks for hosting Thursday's Inspirations!!!
Fondly,
Pat
P.S. EnJOY your well deserved time away!!!

What a pretty scene with all the daffodils surrounding the bare trees. Beautiful! Blessings to you. Pamela
ReplyDeleteYour photo looks very promising with the daffodils below a winter tree!
ReplyDeleteThe daffodils are such a wonderful foil for the grand old tree.
ReplyDeleteLike yours, our country is so vast that the trees in different cities are at wildly different stages of leaf/blossom. I do believe, however, that spring has truly arrived!
At the sight of the daffodils I thought of Wordsworth's wonderful poem
ReplyDelete".....beneath the trees, fluttering and dancing in the breeze".
Spring has indeed arrived where you are Mary and that is a most majestic tree too.
Shane ♥
Reminds me of the poem-stunning!
ReplyDeleteJemma
I always love to see trees surrounded by a carpet of naturalized spring flowers! What history that tree holds.
ReplyDeleteThanks for inspiration!
I've always loved that Lubbock quote. So true. Your tree is divine.
