Gone Thriftin'

I'm happy to be done with turkey (at least the kind you don't get at the deli counter) for another year.  I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I'm not a big Black Friday shopper, so I'm going to take a walk, and then visit the thrift store.  Enjoy your weekend!  :)

  1. Good morning, Mary -
I'm with you - I'm thinking the thrift store is a good place to be today. Last evening when most of my family had gone home and the house was quiet I told my dear mother that the only store I would consider braving the traffic for would be a thrift store or an antique mall. I assume most people won't be there! So far I'm thinking that may not even happen. I'm thinking of beginning the switch from Fall and Thanksgiving decor to a bit of Christmas. Maybe. Maybe not. Hope we get to see what you find today.

  2. Excellent idea, Mary! For me, I'm spending the day cleaning, as we had no guests yesterday but will have friends over this weekend. And I sorta like cleaning. Sometimes!

  4. Hi Mary, enjoy your thrifting, hope you come home with some treasures. I'm glad we're done with the turkey too! My poor little granddaughter made the connection between the animal and the meal!

  6. Sounds fun to me!! I'm getting too old to fight the crowds at the mall. Maybe we will head out to a little town close by with antique stores today to entertain our company. Sally

  8. Hi Mary....I did do a bit of shopping this morning but stayed away from the big box stores...I was considering the outlet mall that opened last night at midnight but thought better of it...a turkey sandwich and a warm bed was much more enticing....waiting to see what bargains you found at the thrift store.....Sue.

  9. I looooove your decoration at your Thanksgiving table! Actually I'm inspired from it and I'll use some ideas in our Cristmas lunch! I just have a question: What do you mean when you say "Black Friday shopper"?

  10. Hi Marina!
Every year, on the day after Thanksgiving in the United States, all the stores have huge sales, sometimes starting at 4am, to begin the Christmas shopping season. The crowds are huge, and some people shop all day long.

  11. Hi Mary,

I am new to your blog and I have really been enjoying it. While I didn't have anything to buy, our grandgirls are here for the week so I got up extra early and took the oldest granddaughter to pick out the girls' Christmas dresses. It was actually a fun adventure for her to go shopping before the sun came up. We went to Macy's and enjoyed writing a wish list and leaving it in the mailbox for Santa. In all honesty I think I enjoyed the adventure more than her! The house will be so quiet when they leave tomorrow.

  16. Now that sounds like a great Black Friday shopping idea! I hit the sales at the Fabric Store. I got 12.00 a yard fleece for 2.22 and everyone there was very polite so I considered it a success. Maybe I'll check out our thrift store today.
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
    *hugs*
