A Work in Progress

Our master bedroom has been a work in progress (and that's a polite way of putting it) for over a year now. I wanted to show you my new headboard -- handmade by my friend Toni Anne and I yesterday.

We made a plywood and 2X4 base, covered it with foam, batting and a white quilt and voila -- an upholstered headboard. Of course, that makes it sound like it was a breeze to create but let me tell you -- it was a big job! But we are thrilled with the way it turned out. We may be making one for her next. :)

So, that's the master bedroom so far. I still have some ideas -- I'd like to decoupage some prints on the folding screen, and paint the dresser, and get a rug... But it's definitely coming along. :)

Oh, and please excuse the messy bedside tables. I didn't have time to style the photos. lol

I'm linking this post to Cindy's Show & Tell Friday. Thanks, dear Cindy, for hosting such a fun event!

  2. Work in progress?! This looks like a hotel to me and makes my bedroom look very sad and depressing! Granted I just moved two weeks ago but still... I doubt mine will look like this any time soon. Great job and can't wait to see what you consider a finished product! :)

  4. It's looking great Mary! Everyone of our beds has a home made headboard, big impact for little $$$. Check out my March 9th post - Zee Boudoir . Your room is truly lovely but was surprised not to see even a little bit of red. ; )

  30. Okay, Mary, I was just scrolling through a Better Homes and Gardens article on bedrooms and, I have to say, this is as pretty (even prettier) than anything that they had featured there.

Hmmm, it looks like you have the same things on your bedside tables as I do. JK! =] Well, no, really, you do, but, I didn't study it - just noticed that it looked the same. =]

Anyhoo, you are majorly encouraging me because, that is my project for the next couple of weeks. I might just survive. I was actually thinking of doing the same thing to a screen as you did to your headboard. I'll let you know if I get there.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Love, Katy

I had photos that seemed too insignificant to list on their own but, together, they got the point across wonderfully! That was so much fun! I can't wait for a chance to do one when I actually know what I'm doing. =]
