I had to troll through my archives this week to find something for Mosaic Monday, and I finally came up with food photography.  I really feel as though blogging has ushered in a golden age of food photography.  There are so many wonderful food blogs these days, with fabulous eye candy.  A few of my favorites are Honey& Jam, Cannelle et Vanille, Savory Simple, and Tartelette.  If you are interested, you might want to follow my Pinterest board called Beautiful Food Photography.  I have collected wonderful examples there from around the globe.  And if you are interested in learning more about food photography, check out this article in Lightstalkers about lighting and styling food photos.

Mosaic Monday: Happy Spring

It was a winter for the record books here in our part of New Jersey.  We have had more snow, and more extremely cold temperatures, than I can ever remember.  And I have lived in this house since I was a little kid.  The first days of spring have finally brought some warmer temps however, and most of our snow has melted, except for a few dirty piles.  It is so wonderful to see the ground for a change, even if it is now mostly mud.  Yesterday, my husband found a newspaper from February 3rd on our front lawn, still in it's plastic wrapping.  It must have been thrown there from the driveway by the snow plow, and remained buried under the snow for nearly seven weeks.

So far, we only have a few snowdrops up and blooming, so I celebrated spring with some supermarket flowers. And of course, I couldn't help taking a few photos.  Happy Spring!

"Life is better at the beach" -- it's true.  There are wide open spaces.  The air is crisp and clear.  The sound of the surf is a peaceful background as the wind caresses your face.  And it's even better when it's empty of other people.  ;)

Mosaic Monday: California Fog

When we were in California a few weeks ago, we woke up one morning to a beautiful fog.  Most of you know how much I love a good fog, right?  I wandered around for about an hour with my camera, and had a great time.  I'm so glad to share the results  here today, as we are in the ugly stage of our snow here in New Jersey -- everything is dirty and sort of melting...  And I will be SO happy when it has melted completely, which at this rate may be sometime in July!

Mosaic Monday: San Diego Botanical Garden, Part 2

As promised, here are some more images from our visit to the San Diego Botanical Garden.  My husband is a sucker for bamboo, and there were some fabulous bamboo groves to walk through.  There was also a beautiful Japanese tea house, and some gorgeous rosemary.  Living in New Jersey, I have never seen rosemary growing in bushes the size of boxwood.  The scent was heavenly!  I was also charmed by the figures created with moss, ivy and succulents.  And of course, being kids at heart, we had to walk through the children's garden as well.  :)
