As promised, here are some more images from our visit to the San Diego Botanical Garden. My husband is a sucker for bamboo, and there were some fabulous bamboo groves to walk through. There was also a beautiful Japanese tea house, and some gorgeous rosemary. Living in New Jersey, I have never seen rosemary growing in bushes the size of boxwood. The scent was heavenly! I was also charmed by the figures created with moss, ivy and succulents. And of course, being kids at heart, we had to walk through the children's garden as well. :)

ReplyDeleteIt's so enjoyable to visit gardens in other zones and see what grows there. The bamboo and rosemary are lovely. I think a hedge of rosemary would be heavenly.
ReplyDeleteSuch variety in one garden!! We have a lovely rosemary bush and it does have the most aromatic scent, especially in the summer months, when it lingers in the warm breeze. Beautiful photos of a garden adventure! Thanks so much for hosting and have a wonderful week!

ReplyDeleteSo beautiful Mary. I love Ba,boo and in fact have it planted around the 2 acres. I loved it so much from the looks, that I made a huge mistake in not learning their behavior...goodness they take over everything and very dificult to rid of, not that I have begun to try yet ;). The garden in San Diego here is really such a treat to see, thank you~

Don't you just love visiting gardens when you travel?! I'm in another cold weather state so I love to see the greenery from other places. It was zero once again here in Michigan this morning. The photo of the bamboo is amazing. Thanks so much for hosting, Laura
ReplyDeleteHow pleasant and lovely this outing seems, Mary! :) There was an arboretum/botanical gardens ten minutes from my house (we went there last year) and they have a huge bamboo grove - we become children when we go there - not because there's a children's garden but because the spirit of adventure and explore takes over. These images make me think of that! (Can smell it, too!! :) :) :) )

Hi Mary. Great to see another post from a beautiful warm botanic garden. I love all the fun sculpture there. One friend of mine, who has a nursery business, makes little men from pots and fills them with sedums and other easy plants. So fun to see whimsical things in a garden rather than just the plants. :)
ReplyDeleteHow delightful! I would love to be able to have rosemary growing outside. It is just my favorite to smell.
ReplyDeleteThe botanical garden is gorgeous. I love the sculptures with the moss, just lovely. Linking up rather late, but wanted to join in. Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteLove seeing the botanical garden.
