It was a winter for the record books here in our part of New Jersey. We have had more snow, and more extremely cold temperatures, than I can ever remember. And I have lived in this house since I was a little kid. The first days of spring have finally brought some warmer temps however, and most of our snow has melted, except for a few dirty piles. It is so wonderful to see the ground for a change, even if it is now mostly mud. Yesterday, my husband found a newspaper from February 3rd on our front lawn, still in it's plastic wrapping. It must have been thrown there from the driveway by the snow plow, and remained buried under the snow for nearly seven weeks.
So far, we only have a few snowdrops up and blooming, so I celebrated spring with some supermarket flowers. And of course, I couldn't help taking a few photos. Happy Spring!

This has been our most severe winter for many years and the mounds of snow will still be here well into April. It doesn't help that it keeps snowing, and spring will be well received when it does come.
ReplyDeleteYour daffies are amazing, Mary!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images........
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring to you too!
Ruby
Love love love, Mary ~
ReplyDeleteWe've had an epic winter here too. It's been the winter of my discontent.
Your images here are a joy to see.
Love those daffodils even if they are supermarket variety! : ) It's just cold and windy here now / snowed the other day, though! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty miniature daffodils, Mary! Happy Spring!
ReplyDeleteMary, this has been a winter for the record books.. I love your pretty daffodils! Enjoy your week ahead!
ReplyDeleteSo interesting notes about the weather (issue); the "forecast" said that our winter (in Europe) will be a heavy one...and in some parts (in north) it was... but in my city we had per total/only one week of snow, some freezing temperatures for short period of time and more windy moments... It was actually a "long cold autumn"!...
ReplyDeleteHope that you're going to have a Sunny Spring as soon as possible to enjoy! Thanks for hosting, too!
Thanks for hosting. I haven't linked up for awhile so I was happy I had something to link up so I could join in.
ReplyDeleteit must be amazing to see the transformation from snow to green and colour. I love your display of daffodilts in the urn. The colours of spring. Have a wonderful week and thank you for hosting. LOL so funny about the newspaper! was it still readable?
ReplyDeleteYes, Jill, the newspaper was in pretty good shape! :)

ReplyDeleteHappy spring Mary! :) I love those little dafs. Grateful little flowers, aren't they? I always buy the cheap and cheery things before the season, and then plant them somewhere in the garden, and I'll be darned if they all don't come up next spring. Right now they are havign a lovely time of it in my Vancouver garden.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing the spring flowers making their way to sunshine. Thanks for Mosaic Monday Mary.

DeleteMary,
ReplyDeleteYour photography is "liken a breath of Spring Air following a Spring Shower", so refreshing!!!
Our neighbor has daffodil blooming in her front yard, another neighbor has crocus!!!
I got excited to see some GREEN popping up in the yard, until "Mr. Ed" said, "Relax. . .they're weeds!"
Fondly,
Pat
Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteYour daffodils, with their little sunshine faces made me smile, especially since it is still very cold and snowy here in Toronto on this 5th day of spring! Your supermarket flowers shine bright and beautifully in their dark and dramatic space!
Thanks for hosting and have a lovely week!
Poppy
