Yes, I may have a slight problem with collecting things, and several people have asked me where in the world I store everything, so I wanted to show you two of my storage options at our Little Red House.

The photo at the top is a deacon's bench that seats two at our kitchen table. Open the seat, and there's a ton of storage for kitchen odds and ends. We're lucky to have a large pantry, so most of our kitchen cabinets are free for dishes. Yipee!

This is a painted chest of drawers in our dining room. We originally got it to put in a bedroom, but it sort of got sidetracked into the dining room, and there it stays. Lots of dishes fit inside!

We also have a corner cabinet in the dining room, as well as a hutch, a washstand and another cabinet. All full. OK, so maybe we do need more storage.

Or less dishes...

Nope. More storage.

  1. Your storage pieces are so neat. I adore the bench and the painted chest is wonderful. I need to organize and sort gets out of hand. I should just show hubby your pictures and explain that I need a few more attractive storage pieces, too.....I am sure he would jump on board :-)

  2. Yes, definately, more storage:) And what love storage is too! That decon's bench makes me want to shout Hallelujah!

  3. Mary I LoVe the rose and hydrangea in your banner!! Two of my favorite flowers and I post photos of the rose constantly!!
I have several pices of furniture where the top comes off so I can store the numerous magazines that I cannot get rid of!!

  4. Mary,

LOVE the painted chest! And the deacon's bench too. Your style is so warm and inviting!

  5. Less dishes? Oh banish the thought! I have two chests and the china hutch, and the buffet in the kitchen...and a shelf in the kitchen (not counting the cupboards)...oh okay, maybe I need a little less dishes. LOL

  6. You have found such lovely solutions for storage! The painted chest is fabulous!

  7. I was just thinking of redoing an old dresser that we have to put in our dining room. That's the trouble with 100 year old homes. There wasn't a lot of storage in mind when these were being built. So I'm glad to see that you have a dresser in your dining room! And I love that bench!

  8. Oh, I am adding you to my favorite blogs to visit- your colors and style are beautiful and right up my alley!

I can't wait to cruise through more of your entries!

  9. Love that bench of yours as it is both pretty and also pretty functional. The painted chest is very elegant, I like it a lot!

  10. Hello Mary, you are a great collector! I gather everything dishes are my passion. For foruna there are furniture to contain all things. I would now like collezzionare tablespoons fruit and cream French! Your house I like both extraordinarily

  11. Hi Mary... I have the same problem; this thing with collecting things... but I love it... don't we all??

Beautiful home you got; and I love the honey color chest.

  12. Yay for more storage!!
I love what I see here...nice to meet you!!! I'll be back :)

  13. The red painted chest of drawers is just lovely. I like all your storage solutions; so much nicer than plastic crates!

We do have similar blog names, don't we? Thank you for stopping by my blog. I'll definitely be coming back here again. Your interiors are so lovely I am sure I could learn from you.

  14. A girl can NEVER have too many dishes... you dish on Mary.. we love seeing your collection

  15. It great that you have a variety of storage options at Little Red House. The chest of drawers in the dining room is what I dream of for my table linens. I keep them now in the living room desk drawers.

  16. I love your storage options! It's fun to put furniture to work. I have a chest of drawers in my kitchen from my son's bedroom when he was little. Might as well use what's there! Lovely pictures as always. It always gives such a cozy feeling when I read your blog!

  17. You have really awesome furnishings...I really mean that!

  18. I wished I had more room, but id buy more hehe.

  19. I had to giggle when I came across your blog today and read your profile. I too am a 50-something Mary married to a funny attorney.

Although, until today, I had not aspired to be a forest ranger.

But ... now that I think about it ...

  20. Oh, I do love all your storage places. They are beautiful! I love that decon's bench so much.
    hugs, bj

  21. Excellent storage in your kitchen bench and the painted chest! Yes -- another vote for simply more storage -- after all -- tomorrow just may bring another stack of fresh china treasures from the lovely thrift stores!

  22. I could definately use more storage! Love your painted chest. We have a bench similar to your deacon's bench that my husband made. Great for storage!

  23. Mary, everything in your home is exquisite. I agree, always more storage over pairing down!

  24. Aha! NOW I know your secrets! :) I'll be keeping my eyes open for more storage options. ~ hugs, Lynda xo

  25. I love the lines on that dressar and we want a church pew for our table. We did have one but it was very old and had sat outside too long at the last owners residence and was beyond what we finally decided was our capability to repair. There was just way to much damage. I love the eclecticness of both pieces!

    God bless,

  26. Yes, I would vote for more storage!
Very pretty storage options, I might add.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment. I love to hear what you have to say!
