By now, most of you will have appreciated the fact that I have, ahem, a slight problem with collecting dishes.
I may have a few more dishes than I know what to do with.
But that's where repurposing comes in, right? Bone dishes make wonderful ring holders. I have also used saucers as soap dishes, and platters as back splashes behind my kitchen faucet.
Everything old is new again. :)

Please join me for Mosaic Monday -- Mr. Linky will be up by 9:30pm Sunday. I look forward to seeing all your wonderful and creative mosaics.
Mary,
ReplyDeleteI love dishes, too. Can't seem to resist.
Carol
I surely have too many dishes too, lol. I like the idea of repurposing....I tend to do the same thing. Happy weekend ;)
ReplyDeleteBlessings!

Hi Mary, my problem is storage space. I have had some beautiful pieces in the past but have given them away when I remarried and moved. That is a lovely dish to keep your rings on. Have a look at Anjoe playhouse and the item she has to keep valuables in.!!

Lovely sunny but cold day in the UK, hope your weather is good, Jackie .
Another dish fan. I could spend hours rooting threw thrift stores for them. I've also got a slight addiction to tea cups and saucers.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see the back splash that you did with platters and such.
Oh boy, can I ever relate. I love dishes and seem to just keep buying them. I definitely have a problem. I love the idea of using them all over the house. Your wonderful displays are alwys so lovely. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeletei don't collect as much as i used to...but i love what i have and love how you share yours!
ReplyDeleteAhh yes a dishaholic. I already have my speech ready for the moving specialist who's coming to our condo to determine our moving needs...
ReplyDelete"Sir, you really need to be prepare your packers...I have lots of dishes. No sir you don't understand I mean I have way more dishes in this one bedroom condo then you can imagine. Bring lots of dish packs!" Oh and I have a few goblets, too. Oh and about the cake plates...
Oh, really like the moon shaped dish......very unique! And perfect for holding jewelry, etc! Lynn
ReplyDeleteI thought of you last weekend when Daryl gave me several of her mother's old dishes. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteDish collecting only becomes a problem when suddenly there is no place to sit because the chairs and sofas are stacked with bread and butter plates, salad plates, rimmed soups and egg cups. In fact, Rosemary over at Content in a Cottage reminded me that I could use a few more egg cups. Keep showing us your dishes Mary, I love them!
ReplyDeleteLove,

Can one have too many dishes???
ReplyDeleteI love seeing what's in your dish cupboard, Mary. That little blue and white bone dish is so sweet and the perfect spot to rest those wedding rings.
Hi, Maggie B at Normandy Life directed me to you. I think I would like to take part in Mosaic Monday, it there a theme each week or any other rules? I uses to collect patterned china and sell at antique fairs a long time ago. No room for it now but still love to look at it
ReplyDeleteI love collecting dishes too. My husband finds it disturbing:)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! I've been using a pretty soap dish to hold my cell phone when I'm home.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
DAwn
I am a dishaolic too! I'm so glad there are others ~ :-)
ReplyDeleteI love your prints in your Etsy shop...just left you a message there.
LOL! I liked the "ahem" in there! What is it with dishes that we just can't seem to get enough. They are pretty - each so special. I relate occasions to dishes! How sick is that?
ReplyDeleteLoved this!
Have a great weekend!
Karen
Blue dishes are my favorite! I saw some pretty ones recently and facetiously told my husband I thought I would buy them. His response was "where are you going to put them?" :)
ReplyDeleteYour rings are beautiful. When people comment on mine and ask if they're antiques (honestly!) I tell them, yes circa 1967!

This bone dish is so beautiful with the rainbows glimmering on it:>)
ReplyDeleteIt is much better for the dishes to be sitting at your house being photographed in the dappled sunlight for all of us to enjoy, and being repurposed as ring dishes or soap dishes, etc... rather than just sitting on a dark shelf, collecting dust, in some shop.
ReplyDeleteI love blue and white dishes and Eva Cassidy is one of my favorite singers. I'm going to look around your blog some more, it's been while since I've been by.
ReplyDeleteMary
One can never have too many vintage dishes, or teacups :) Love your ring holder!!!
ReplyDeleteI use bowls as planters, to hold my yarn and the remotes, plates for coasters and to set my candles on them, saucers for buttons and hair clips ..... never pass up a beautiful dish!
ReplyDeleteSarah
HI Mary; I try to find new ways to use my old dishes as well.... love the idea of using one as a ring holder,, that one I did not think of... have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteHugs;

Hello mary
ReplyDeleteI found your blog through QueenmotherMamaw and the blue and white china plate had me hooked. I love blue and white china too! Will back track and have a read of your blog. Please visit me too.
Cheers - Joolz (Australia)
How gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day Mary.
Welcome, Joolzmac! And thanks, everyone! :)
ReplyDeleteDish addict here, too! Great ideas!
ReplyDeleteYes, repurposing is great fun. At dinner here Saturday evening, I was telling my sister about someone I knew who had just SO MUCH STUFF in her house -- every surface covered with collectibles and things of all description -- and my sister cleared her throat and looked meaningfully at the breakfront in my dining room, jammed with china ...
ReplyDeleteWell, said I, that's GOOD stuff!

my mother in law keeps an entire second apartment
ReplyDeleteto house all her china...
Great idea, Mary. I love that dish, pretty with the engagement and wedding rings. I am just like you, a dishaholic. I have dishes that I bought 3 years ago and have not used and have some that are still in boxes in the garage...Christine
