I ♥ Rummage Sales

Last week I went to one of my favorite rummage sales -- the twice-yearly Visiting Nurse's Association Rummage Sale in Far Hills, NJ. There are lots of different barns and tents, filled with everything from books to clothing to electronics to furniture. My favorite, though, is the housewares section. So herein follows a list of my goodies: :)

The cream cutware dish (above) was $4. The one below was $1.50. Woo hoo! I've been collecting cream colored dishes for a few years now. They can be combined in many different ways for table settings, and they look great in my kitchen.

I love milk glass. This has been one of my favorite collectables for a few years now. I probably have way too many pieces, but I couldn't resist two more. The little basket (below) was $3. How cute is it with those little blossoms?!

The hobnail goblet (below) was $1.50. Classic shape, beautifully executed. Love it.

I also have a thing for anything urn-shaped. I picked up this little silverplated cup (below) for $1. I guess I'm starting to collect silver cups, too. I love using them for small bouquets. I have this picture in my mind of a series of silver cups, marching down the table, filled with colorful zinnias or cheerful daisies. Wouldn't that be fun?

So that is my $11. haul. And yes, I ♥ rummage sales.

  4. Mary,

Those are wonderful pieces. I have gotten past buying things that are just a great buy....since we have so much stuff and now buy things that are a great price...and that I love!!

Looks like that is your philosophy as well.

  6. Nice haul...I especially like the little milk glass basket with daisies. I went to that sale last year and brought home a good piece of milk glass as well. Isn't it amazing how many sales there are right now? There is a townwide yard sale in the Atlantic Highlands and Fair Haven this weekend. Oh, the possibilities!

  9. Golly, these must be the days for rummage sales. Wish we had some around here that I thought might be worth going to. But how can I say that? I've never been to one. That's my shy side spoiling something for me. I'm going to work on that...
    Thanks for the great posting!

  40. I weep; I gnash my teeth; I beat my breast in despair -- I missed the VNA sale! Broken toe.

Your finds are AMAZING. Had I gone, we'd have had to wrestle for them; my money's on ME.

My Mom had that same little milk glass flower basket. It's probably still out in the beach house. We're going out next week and I'll look for it.

I really LOVE those creamware dishes, especially the first one. Beautiful.
And as always, stunning photos. Your lighting is just fabulous.

Bye! Maybe we'll fight over the same items at the VNA sale in the fall.
