I just wanted to show you a few closeups of what's in my kitchen at the moment. I love these plates (above) from the thrift store. They only had two of them, but I couldn't resist. At $1.25 each, they didn't exactly break the bank, and I love the scene on them so much that I may just use them for display anyway.
A peek at one of my favorite antique tins (above).
This tole tray (above) was an ebay purchase. I love olive greens, reds and black.
I tend to move curtains from room to room, because I have the same general colors on my whole house. These started out in the dining room, but I think I like them best in the kitchen.
Rusty tin is another fave. As are roosters. This little tin box, with it's charming silhouettes, was found at a store in Weston, Vermont. Don't you love the little chick cut-outs across the bottom?
OK, I think I've pretty much exhausted the kitchen at the moment. Well, maybe a few table settings next week...
Have a great weekend, dear bloggers. And for my friends in the northeast -- stay warm!
Love the rooster and WOW I SPY A CHARLES DECKER JUG!!!! My husband is a grocer for the past 30 years as well, and started out in South Orange (Deckers had a store there as well).hubby works for a different grocer entirely, i just have an affection for old groceries and bakeries (hubbys family owned a bakery in newark in the 30's as well)I think all that old stuff is just so cool..i have never been able to find anything from his family bakery though.
ReplyDeleteMary, I love it all.
ReplyDeleteYour friends in the south are quite cold today, too. ;-) We all need to stay warm. It's just good for me that I'm not somewhere even colder.
Everything is so lovely and special. If you have a home like that, choosing a color should be easy peasy! (but hey, I know its not!0
ReplyDeleteI wish your thrift shop was near me - you find the best things!
ReplyDeleteYou certainly have a finer thrift shop than I do! I would have snapped those plates up too. The chicken planter is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWhen you are done with all these items I'll send you my address... lol
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Mary~ I am doing my best to stay warm, which means I am not going outside unless it's absolutely necessary, or the dogs insist. Your scrumptious closeups have inspired me to try snapping some things in my own kitchen. Love the chick and rooster, and really love that curtain fabric.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! I love the plates! Have a good day.

Ohh...I just found your site and love your photos!! I will be back often. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the warm wishes...we need'em. Your kitchen helps...so warm and cozy.
ReplyDeleteI love those plates and you have such a talent with vignettes..makes me feel very inferior ( but I *will* get over it). Yes, it is very cold here and with more ailing right hand I am just reading blogs and playing computer games with my left hand. Too bad I can't vacuum or do housework with my left hand...really, I can't.

Those plates are great - who needs more than two? It is warm and beautiful in Colorado today - lots of sun and in the 50s. Hope you are staying comfy!! Sally
ReplyDeleteBeautiful....love that tray Mary! cherry
ReplyDeleteMary; the bakery was called Pfeiffers and was down Neck, im not sure what street...thanks for stopping by
ReplyDeleteMary, The wallpaper must come down. I would take a chance and paint a nice taupe color. If you have trim or wainscoting, I would do that in a creamy white color. It will offset your lovely things nicely and give you the non-busy background you need. Just a suggestion. Love your house and the history of it. You photography makes coming to the site a pleasure. Donna
ReplyDeleteI adore the scene on those plates. Yes, they definitely would be display pieces at my house! Enjoyed all of the close ups of your wonderful kitchen pieces. laurie
ReplyDeleteI used Benjamin Moore "bar harbor beige/1032" with my red/green & lots of black rot iron/oil rubbed bronze.
ReplyDeleteThe tray is lovely. I have some hand painted tins & boxes from my favorite great aunt. Treasures.
Happy New Year,
Love everything! Do you know who manufactured that plate? Is there a name on the bottom? I love it!
