I've got absolutely nothing for you today, so I'm just going to leave you with some photos of this bowl that belonged to my mother. Yesterday was her birthday; she would have been 91. Instead, she died ten years ago this June, of pancreatic cancer.
I miss her.
You say you have nothing to say but this says it all, doesn't it. An empty bowl and a longing in your heart. I'm sorry, Mary.
ReplyDeleteHer bowl is beautiful, though, as it lives on in your home.
So sorry for the loss of your mother. How nice to have that beautiful bowl to remember her by.
ReplyDeleteVery touching post. I am sorry for your hurt.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful bowl and the memories that go with it I'm sure are just as beautiful! Nice that you have such lovely things that you can remember her by!
ReplyDeleteI am tearing up.
ReplyDeleteYour post is very moving.
The bowl is beautiful and your
sentiments about your mother are
taken to heart.
Missing my Dad too.
I'll be thinking about you today.
I'm sorry Mary. I don't think we will ever stop missing our mothers. What helps me is knowing what a wonderful relationship we shared and what a treasure that was.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful post. Do we ever stop missing our mothers? Blessings to you today.
ReplyDeleteDear Mary - You shared more than just words today. You shared your heart. The photos are beautiful reminders of a special treasure from your dear mother. I don't think we ever get over the loss of our dear ones, especially on those special celebration days so important to their lives. I miss my dad so much after nearly six years. We have our memories - this beautiful bowl is one of yours. Hold your memories close, often. ~Adrienne~
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful bowl...
ReplyDeleteThe bonds of love are forever and so great that ten years does not diminish your missing your mother. I might not describe that as empty. Sounds, rather, that you are full of love for this dear woman and missing her says how big your love is.
Such a bittersweet post. How sweet that you're thinking of your sweet mom today...have a gentle day.
ReplyDeleteMary,
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful sentiment about your mom. I lost mine 15 yrs ago to lung cancer. We never stop missing them. ((((Mary)))

That is a fabulously beautiful bowl and that it once belonged to your mother makes it all that much more beautiful. My father also died of pancreatic cancer ten years ago in August.I have his leather jacket, which my husband wears. My Dad adored my husband, so it makes me so happy to see him in that jacket.
ReplyDeleteDear Mary,

Dearest Friend,
ReplyDeleteI lost my mother this past June at the age of 88, and my Dad a few months later of a broken heart...They had been married for 67 years ! Do we ever get over missing our parents ? I don't think I ever will....so....I know how you feel.....
I know this feeling very well..believe me - a beautiful tribute to your mother. I really love the last shot.

That is beautiful. I am missing my mother, too, and that bowl looks like one she had. Hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how an empty bowl can actually hold so much? I miss my mom too and often some little thing will make me think of her.
ReplyDeleteI have a cache pot (?) that looks a lot like that bowl. I'll post a photo of it tomorrow.
Oh, and congratulation on your "Dishaholic" award.

We are always tied to our parents aren't we? And those of us who had great ones are so blessed. No, we never stop missing them but how sweet our memories truly are. Hold onto those memories Mary. They will warm you...
ReplyDeleteLove,
Sue
Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteMy bowl is empty without my mom too...sending you hugs and love.

The bowl is so beautiful ~ as are your memories of your mother.
ReplyDeleteIt is very comforting to have something that belonged to one's mother. I know the pain of loss is always there. I lost my mother five weeks ago, yesterday. I know time make things easier, because my father died nearly 19 years ago, but the loss of a family member will always leave a void.
ReplyDeleteThe bowl is beautiful. It must hold many wonderful memories.
Interesting that we both ended our posts about our Moms with "I miss her." That is something that will never go away. Anytime I think of her..and know I cannot go to the phone and call her and listen to the bits of family gossip and laugh with her, I miss her.
ReplyDeleteFrom comments we are not alone.
Mona
Your bowl may be empty but your heart is full. What a blessing.

ReplyDeleteI can't even imagine how much you must miss her! It's so nice that you have special things that once belonged to her!
ReplyDeleteDear Mary,
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about the loss of your mother. It's lovely you have a beautiful keepsake to remember her by, as well as warm memories tucked away in your heart.
I love your dear Mom's "Rose Medallion" bowl. I know from my own experience, that it is comforting to have your loved one's things about you to evoke sweet memories after they are gone. I miss my Mom, as well.
