Welcome to autumn in New Jersey! We are so fortunate to have some really wonderful hiking trails pretty close to our house, and almost every weekend when the weather permits, we go for a hike.
When we were first married, my husband used to go on overnight camping trips with some high school friends. I could never quite see the charm -- getting up at 5:30am to drive six hours, strap on a 50lb. pack and walk up the side of a mountain to a place where there is no bathroom. Yeah, no. But I do love day hikes.
These photos were taken at the Scherman-Hoffman Wildlife Preserve in Bernardsville, NJ. There is a trail called the Dogwood Walk which, as you might imagine, is filled with dogwood trees. In autumn, they are covered with beautiful red foliage and bright red berries. As the trails wind through the woods, the ground is littered with acorns and hickory nuts. And the field near the river is filled with beautiful waving grasses. Oh yes, autumn has come to New Jersey. :)
Oh, and sorry about the two Mr. Linky's. He has been very curmudgeonly this evening, and I can't seem to delete one of them. So you can just add your link to the first one and ignore the second. :)
Now let's have some mosaic fun! Here are the instructions:

ReplyDeleteYour fall mosaic is beautiful. If it warms up a little and stops raining I shall take a walk!
ReplyDeleteMary, by the way my Mr. Linky #9 is incorrect. I did it twice somehow. The #8 Shirleys World is the right one. Sorry!
Beautiful day for a hike Mary! What great spot to have near you to enjoy the foliage and fresh air. ~Jeanne
ReplyDeleteNo overnights here either, I don't see the charm, but your day hike looks like a fun time! Great mosaic! Beautiful shots!
ReplyDeleteI love hiking too especially if there is a spectacular view, except for the bathroom situation. I want to enjoy the comforts of life can offer.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful mosaic with lovely Fall views from your walk! I've shared mosaics at Sacred Ruminations and Small Reflections this week ... just because ;--)
ReplyDeleteHope you had a wonderful weekend.

ReplyDeleteWonderful photos as usual - it would appear everyone is out walking at this beautiful time of year! xxx
ReplyDeleteMary, I love your Fall mosaic. I'm not a big fan of Fall because I know what's coming next - as you would in NJ! But all the beautiful Autumn photos the ladies are posting encourages me to see the beauty in this season. I love walking - a trail close to home would be great.
ReplyDeleteHave a great new week...Kathy
Bernardsville, another lovely place in New Jersey. Your mosaic is filled as always with such beautiful photographs. Mary, I can feel the love in each photo, it must just be your reflection.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mosaic Monday.

This is such a beautiful view to see on a Monday! Gorgeous pictures to look at, Mary!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, peaceful, and fantastic view of the season!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place for a hike. I would love some of those hickory nuts for baking and acorns for decorating! Camping isn't in my vocabulary - LOL but hiking is.
ReplyDeleteMary, Fall in your area is just beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I particulaly enjoy seeing Fall in other parts of the country since it is not quite as evident here in N FL.

I wish we could see the colors of season here. Your mosaic is beautiful. Hikes are fun too, and invigorating.
ReplyDeleteOh, what a lovely hike! I can't believe the change in the foliage in a week -- we got home from California Saturday night, and everything is looking "crunchy" and on its last legs.
ReplyDeleteI agree about camping. As my sister says, "Why in the world do grown people go out of their comfortable houses and pretend to be homeless?"
Amen. Love being outside, and love indoor plumbing.
Lovely mosaic!
Cass (who brought a cold home as my souvenir of CA.)
Such beautiful countryside! It sounds like you also have an abundance of free Fall foliage to gather up for decor!:O) Mary @Boogieboard Cottage
ReplyDeleteYeah, no, for me as well! My idea of camping out is ordering room service! Your photos are lovely as always! I added your photo blog to my "Photography & Artists" blogs on my sidebar. Hope that's okay.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Just beautiful. And, no. I don't do the camping either, but I love a hike!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely Mary. What a great place for a hike. Sharon
ReplyDeleteHI Mary,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great place for a day hike. I'm with you...no bathroom, no thank you :-)
Mr Linky posted me twice and they both lead to my mosaic post but one says Fall Decorating. Not sure what I did wrong, but let's blame it on Mr. Linky.
Thanks for hosting and I'm off to do your tutorial so I can do better next time.
Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteSo nice to hear from you! I have not been into Cocoluxe in some time...I'll have to stop in and try the soup! (I try to stay out of there...so fattening, but delicious!!) Love your hiking photos...beautiful!
