OK, I have a question for you. It has nothing to do with the picture of the roses. I just can't do a post without including a picture. But here is my question:
Have you seen the commercial for the new dog food that is billed as "appetizers for dogs?" I forget who the manufacturer is. My question is this: Who could possibly think that dogs need appetizers? I mean, they're dogs. They eat anything. They eat food off the floor. They lick their own butts, for God's sake.
Do they really need an amuse-bouche?

Please join me for Mosaic Monday this week. (It's my birthday week!) Mr. Linky will be up by 8:30pm Sunday. Although I did not get a chance to leave comments for you all last week, I did visit and was amazed by the beautiful mosaics you made!
Beautiful sunny roses!
ReplyDeleteI have two dogs and no they don't need appetizers. They are rather spoiled though and eat very expensive food! There's nothing too good for my babies : )
Another ploy to take our money :-) Our dogs receive a carrot at cocktail time. Consistency is the key to a happy doggie digestive tract.
ReplyDeleteYour beautiful roses are much appreciated.
That's really humorous!!! Duchess gets appetizers all the time. WE call them treats! BTW the roses are exquisite!!! Have a grand weekend!! Cathy
ReplyDeleteOh Mary, I could not agree with you more! Love the beautiful roses & your photo is amazing. Really looking forward to Monday:) Happy (early) Birthday and have a wonderful weekend too!! Christine :D
ReplyDeleteMary
ReplyDeleteHaha! My dog will eat enything and he'd never know he was receiving refined treatment if I gave him an appetizer!
Mr Ben is our first cocker spaniel that ever leaves food, he can stop when he's had enough. The previous 2 would eat for England!
ReplyDeleteHe is partial to toast at breakfast time though.
See you on Monday,
~Maggie~
Funny! Even funnier my post is just below Maggie and she has a Mr. Ben too! My Mr. Ben thinks appetizers are a great idea, he never gets full with just dinner! haha
ReplyDeleteyeah, that is totally preying on the people that like to humanize their pets. i love my pets, they even get treats, but come on.
ReplyDeleteunfortunately it's the age we live in and people will buy anything.
ReplyDeleteOh boy a birthday week! We're celebrating some family birthdays this weekend. Fun times.
ReplyDeletePeople are going way over the top treating their pets like people...I find it quite annoying myself. Enjoy your pets but don't forget the people around you! Now I'll step off my soap box...
I haven't seen the commercial but it is funny! My dogs have their ration of food every day and get a small snack after they go outside to do their thing. They don't need anything else.
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny, Mary!!
xoxo

Great point - totally bizarre. For a cat, maybe (I sense they are pickier eaters), but for dogs, no way!
ReplyDelete...my dog eats the cat's food as an appetizer:)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Mary!
True it is a ploy for marketing. But that is what companies do. They know where are hearts are. We do not have a dog, but have granddogs and they get treats. Happy early birthday and will be there for Monday. Blessings

My dog receives treats and special table food ~ like veggies that he loves! I think their diets need to remain consistent for their health and a healthy dog food is required. Marketing ploys are everywhere.
ReplyDeleteThe roses are gorgeous!
i can't help but think it must be a kick in the face for people who are wondering where their next meal is coming from...to know we are spending money on dog appetizers when they worry how they are going to feed their children.
ReplyDeleteNext there will dog cocktails!
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures. See you Monday.
Carol
Well, dogs are such a hot topic right now. In our town a dog clothing shop opened up. So I guess they're just trying to capitalize on this trend. I agree. No appetizers for my two. I spoil them enough as it is!

Mary, you sure made me laugh today! I feel the same, we have gone WAY overboard for our animals haven't we. I saw another commercial for a comfy bed for your dog so it doesn't have to sleep on the floor. My sweet lab is really happy just to be able to sleep inside on cold nights! Have a great week,

don't know about the dog commercials...but love the cream roses!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh Mary....I would probably be one of those people to try the doggie appetizers. Bentley has totally taken over control here at this house...he pretty much gets whatever he wants...and even what he doesn't know he wants....!!
ReplyDeleteMary,
ReplyDeleteI am in Australia and wondering what USA time zone you are in for the 8:30 Sunday MM Mr Linky...
sure could use a lesson on how to make the frames/grid...

Hi Jane, I'm in the Eastern time zone. And if you scroll down my sidebar, you will find a small blue mosaic -- click on that image and it will link you to a tutorial I did on how I make my mosaics. Hope you will join us soon! :)
ReplyDeleteIs is ridiculous, these dog appetizers. So silly.
ReplyDeleteThat is funny, my dog is on a vegetarian diet food. The vet said she is allergic to meat.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a very happy birthday week. Do you celebrate all week, that must really be fun.
I have no words...I am rolling on the floor!
ReplyDeletem ^..^
Mary, I couldn't agree more. Feed the poor people..! It is very sad...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful roses..
Happy Birthday Mary!!~ This was my first participation and it sure is fun!!~ I am just hoping I did everything correctly...I actually had to link up three times,it showed my name was there but then when I came back to view others it was gone?? I will figure it out:)!!~
ReplyDeleteWow, just found your blog and became #589 on the follow list..And Happy Birthday to you..
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are awesome and your blog just sorta welcomes someone home..I'll be back for sure. Oh and I totally agree with the dog issue. In the same category of putting a coat or sweater on one...
Love your Mosaic Monday also but with 102 comments, I decided to leave one here (O:
I know! That's what I was thinking! When would you feed them an appetizer? - an hour before their dinner and do you serve water with it, or perhaps a little bouillon?
