Mosaic Monday: Pillow Party

I've made a mosaic of pillows today, to join with Rhondi's Pillow Party, at her beautiful blog Rose Colored Glasses. I love needlepoint pillows, searching for them in thrift stores and antiques shops. The white roses (top left) was found in an antiques shop. The pink butterflies (top right) came from a flea market, and the grapes (bottom center) was found at a rummage sale. None cost more than $5. The primroses (bottom left) was a Mother's Day gift, and the urn of flowers (bottom right) came from HomeGoods.

One of the things I would love to do this year is learn how to sew, and maybe get a very elementary sewing machine. Fabrics fascinate me, and I would love to be able to make my own pillows.

To see some wonderful handmade pillows, visit Rhondi's Pillow Party at Rose Colored Glasses.

Now let's have some mosaic fun! Here are the instructions:

1. Publish your Mosaic Monday post.
2. Once it is published, click on the title of the post. This will lead you to the static link for your post. The static link is the page with only that post on it. Copy the url from your browser at the top of the page.
3. Paste the url into the appropriate Mr. Linky box in this post.
4. Type your name in the appropriate Mr. Linky box in this post.
5. Click on "Enter."
6. Please link back to this Mosaic Monday post so that your readers can find other wonderful mosaics.
That's all there is to it! It's always a good idea to then check and see if your link is working. If you have any questions, feel free to email me: mrcarroll(at)optonline.net. I can't wait to see your mosaics! Here is Mr. Linky

  2. Beautiful pillows. I do love the butterfly ones. That's a great idea about taking lessons. I know how to sew and embroider and yet I don't do either one. I really need to get on the ball. Seeing these really inspires me.

  8. They are beautiful, Mary..
How do you clean the ones you buy second hand...is there a special method of cleaning to protect the needlepoint?

  9. Mary, if you can run a blog you can learn to sew no problem.
These pillows are so pretty. You really got a great deal on them all. I like the fabric on the hassock. Such a pretty plaid, a feminine one.

  21. Oh you've found some beautiful pillows! I love needlepoint & embroidered things too. In fact, I'm trying to make an embroidered pillowcase at the moment, but I'm afraid it's looking a little sad -- maybe it will look better tomorrow after letting it 'rest' overnight ;-)?
Thanks again for letting me play in your Mosaic Monday!
    Blessings,

  22. Hi Mary! What beautiful pillows! And you found them all for such reasonable prices! I have the brother of the white rose pillow that I found at GW. I see handwork at GW all the time...makes me sad to think of all of that work abandoned to strangers, so I try to take it in and love it! lol Happy week!...Debbie

  40. I learned my embroidery skills when I was a child, doing needlepoint, crewel work, and cross stitch for pillows. Sadly, because they were pillows most of them are long gone -- worn out!

I LOVE needlepoint pillows. One cannot have too many! At least according to me ... not according to Howard. :-)

  43. I love pillows too. The always wind up on the floor in my house! I've found a new appreciation for thrift shops in the past couple of weeks. We've been looking for books and something my daughter wants, but there really is a great deal of good stuff to be found.. I just can't bring it all home - no place to put it! It is fun looking though!

  54. I forgot to mention - I was pleased to hear the Eva Cassidy song. I have about 4 of her CD's - such a beautiful voice and so sad to have lost her at such a young age. Her rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Danny Boy and Fields of Gold are my favs!
