No Time for Tea

Today is the day we take down all the Christmas decorations.

Gulp.

It seems like a huge job, but I keep telling myself to break it into smaller tasks and it will be over before I know it.

Yeah, right.

Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, doing all those fun things that I will not be doing because I have to take down the stinking Christmas decorations. Not that I'm bitter or anything. :)

Oh, and don't forget to enter my giveaway. A comment gets you one entry, and if you post about the giveaway on your blog, that gets you a second entry. So come on, people, enter!

*******

I hope that you will join me for Mosaic Monday this coming week. Mr. Linky will be up by 8:30pm Sunday. :)

  1. Hello Mary. Beautiful cup! I know all about those stinking Christmas decorations. 99% of mine are down and away in the attic. It was a tiresome task but I'm glad it's done. You'll feel glad, too. Inch by inch, it's a cinch. Good luck! Sincerely, Susan from writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com

  2. Oh my, that is always such a task, but thank goodness it does go fairly fast. Good luck and just have some tea and cookies along the way, maybe even a piece or two of chocolate. Hugs, Marty

  3. You are not alone. Today I am doing the same thing, plus cleaning. I think by lunchtime I will already been worn out. My house is messy but not too bad. Taking down the holiday can be depressing, so just know that I'm doing the same thing. I think a lot of us are!

  4. I have been procrastinating taking down the decrations, also. Taking them down is just not as much fun as putting them up! I did not even put that many up this year but I just can't seem to get motivated!

  5. Doing the same as you this weekend Mary! Each room seems to have a few plastic storage bins in the middle of the floor :-)
This time tomorrow we can sit with that cup of tea and admire our neat & tidy homes ♥

  6. We took our decorations down last weekend. I was not looking forward to wrapping the breakables separately, making sure everything went in the right box and vacuuming the needles left by the tree. But, once I got started and saw how quickly it was done, I was glad I decided to do it.

  7. Each year it seems like a bigger task, not only the take down but the install too. Though once I get started, I enjoy handling and gently wrapping each precious ornament and decoration, most of which have some special meaning and evoke a fond memory. As I put them away, it makes me eager all over again for next year. Though this year I condensed A LOT. Anything I didn't put out for the past 2-3 years went to Goodwill. The result was I stored 7 fewer boxes and feel so much more organized. In fact, it inspired me to keep going and last night I cleaned 3 closets because it feels so good to get organized again - - always a lift to the downer that accompanies the end of the season. Put the music on, go ahead and have a cup of tea and enjoy handling your memories.

  8. Well, I'm happy to say that task is behind me. I know what a job it is, so good luck. But go ahead and enjoy a cup of tea as you work. Hope you'll stop by for a visit. I'm sharing chocolates today. ~ Sarah

  11. I'm taking my Christmas decorations down today, too. I've been trying to do it little by little at least to get it gathered up in one area, but today is the day that the tree comes down and everything goes back to the basement!

  12. Don't you just hate that job? It's so much fun to bring out the decorations, but not to put it all away. I just took mine down yesterday and what a mess! Have fun! --Delores

  13. No time for Tea!!, Never!!, lol, A nice cup of tea every hour on the house is what you need Mary. I did this on Wednesday and can promise you it works, especially in a gorgeous china cup and I know you have lots of those. Happy undecorating, Kathy.

  15. See, this is why I lead a simplified life, clutter is the enemy, well dust is the enemy and clutter is the facilitator. Good luck!

  17. Did the same thing earlier this week. I love all the holiday stuff but it felt good to get my home back. Don't let it get to you - just think how great you will feel when it all neatly stored away!

  18. Mary...hope you find the time for tea in that lovely cup this afternoon. I spent the morning finishing up the task of putting Christmas away. Glad to have that done and thinking about what's next. Maybe some of my pink depression for Valentine's. That is what I'll be doing this afternoon :)

    Warm Wishes!

  19. We took ours down last weekend. Course it wasn't that big a deal, as we had tabletop trees. But finding a place to store the stuff was a belly ache!

  22. You have my sympathies. I'm doing the same thing!!! I'm currently taking a little break from it and peaking into blog world.

I don't know about you, but it's taking me a LONG time as I have a TON of ornaments on my tree plus I have numerous little trees. Next year I've got to do a meme just on trees.

    Anyway...back to work.

  24. I take all the Santa stuff and outside lights down at New Years, and leave the snowman/winter things up. I will tackle those sometime in January. That way it doesn't seem like such a BIG job!!! ..... the older I get, the calmer I am about not putting myself under so much stress about everything being done all at once!!!

  25. I just finished the very same thing, took me 2 days and I live in a very tiny house. I can't imagine how long it will take you. Hope you have lots of help......Happy New Year!

  28. Hey I solved that problem years ago. When we moved to this house nine years ago, I decorated by season - one room is Spring, one is Summer, most of the house is Fall, and the master bedroom is Winter, which also means Christmas. The walls are white with ground glass on them (the shiny stuff you see outside on houses in Florida), my husband did a winter scene on the long wall, in the plaster, the pictures are all winter and/or Christmas, two Christmas trees under the moosehead, stars an snowflakes hanging from the ceiling. I have toned it down a bit lately because of the dusting problem. But all in all, it cures the cravings for Christmas decorations and all I have to do is the real tree out in the other room. : ) B

  32. Well-- :) you could be like me this year and move the week before Christmas -- you could look at this perdicament 2 ways... Bummed that I didnt get to decorate and doll up my home ORR... you could save yourself boxing everything up :)

Moving is kinda like redecorating after Christmas-- clean empty palette.

See you later tonight! But I am excited to be entered! Very excited.

  34. It always takes me days to get the Christmas things put away. At this point I'm not too sad to see the little bits of this and that go away but I'm always sad to lose the twinkling lights!

  35. I too, take my time in taking the decors down. Again, thank you for such a generous giveaway, Mary! :)
