I've made a mosaic of pillows today, to join with Rhondi's Pillow Party, at her beautiful blog Rose Colored Glasses. I love needlepoint pillows, searching for them in thrift stores and antiques shops. The white roses (top left) was found in an antiques shop. The pink butterflies (top right) came from a flea market, and the grapes (bottom center) was found at a rummage sale. None cost more than $5. The primroses (bottom left) was a Mother's Day gift, and the urn of flowers (bottom right) came from HomeGoods.
One of the things I would love to do this year is learn how to sew, and maybe get a very elementary sewing machine. Fabrics fascinate me, and I would love to be able to make my own pillows.
To see some wonderful handmade pillows, visit Rhondi's Pillow Party at Rose Colored Glasses.

ReplyDeleteHow do you clean the ones you buy second hand...is there a special method of cleaning to protect the needlepoint?
Mary, if you can run a blog you can learn to sew no problem.
ReplyDeleteThese pillows are so pretty. You really got a great deal on them all. I like the fabric on the hassock. Such a pretty plaid, a feminine one.

Came over to join in on Mosaic and pillows? I love pillows. So now I'm off to share some of my own.
ReplyDeleteKeeping Monday crazy ;-)
Oh you've found some beautiful pillows! I love needlepoint & embroidered things too. In fact, I'm trying to make an embroidered pillowcase at the moment, but I'm afraid it's looking a little sad -- maybe it will look better tomorrow after letting it 'rest' overnight ;-)?
ReplyDeleteThanks again for letting me play in your Mosaic Monday!
Blessings,
G
Hi Mary! What beautiful pillows! And you found them all for such reasonable prices! I have the brother of the white rose pillow that I found at GW. I see handwork at GW all the time...makes me sad to think of all of that work abandoned to strangers, so I try to take it in and love it! lol Happy week!...Debbie
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful collection of pillows, Mary. Every single one of them has it's own charm and beauty!
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful new week...Kathy
All the pillows are gorgeous. what talent. My Mother used to Needlepoint. Not me I am sorry to say. MB

ReplyDeleteThese pillows are so beautiful. I am joining Rhondi's party today also, and the Graphics Fairy Brag Monday. But I couldn't possibly not join Mosaic Monday.
Have a beautiful day.

I learned my embroidery skills when I was a child, doing needlepoint, crewel work, and cross stitch for pillows. Sadly, because they were pillows most of them are long gone -- worn out!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE needlepoint pillows. One cannot have too many! At least according to me ... not according to Howard. :-)
Cass
PS Want help to learn to sew?
What a wonderful post. I'll have to check on doing your mosaic mondays with you.
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful pillows Mary! I'd like to get better at sewing this year and make some fun pillows too.
ReplyDeleteManuela
I love pillows too. The always wind up on the floor in my house! I've found a new appreciation for thrift shops in the past couple of weeks. We've been looking for books and something my daughter wants, but there really is a great deal of good stuff to be found.. I just can't bring it all home - no place to put it! It is fun looking though!
ReplyDeleteMary, these are such pretty pillows! And shoot. I meant to put some of mine into a mosaic and forgot.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Your pillows are beautiful. I especially love the needlepoint pillows since my stress release is needlepoint. I too think you can never have too many needlepoint pillows. What a cute idea for a blog party. I will certainly have to plan to join in next week.

Mary,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the help on grabbing buttons. I will add your button to my page!
Thanks,
JoAnn
By the way, I enjoy your blog.
I forgot to mention - I was pleased to hear the Eva Cassidy song. I have about 4 of her CD's - such a beautiful voice and so sad to have lost her at such a young age. Her rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Danny Boy and Fields of Gold are my favs!
ReplyDeleteYour pillows are just so pretty. I have two that were given to me a long time ago that need to be embroidered. Once I finish with my current project maybe I'll do that at night when I catch up on the news.
ReplyDeleteLovely pillows! I have a needlepoint started & it will probably stay that way! Thanks for hosting MM again. I was very late this time.
ReplyDeletean awesome display of these beautiful pillows
ReplyDeleteOh my how beautiful they all are Mary. One of my goals for the new year is to be HALF as creative as you are. Truly! It is! And to be HALF as good with a camera as you are...you are glorious in every way!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Sue
