This has been such a difficult week!  Our 16-year-old cat has been very sick, and we had to have her put down on Thursday.  I know that most of you will understand how difficult that is -- it's really like losing a member of your family.  We are still coming to terms with it, expecting her to walk into a room or curl up on the bed at night...

Mosaic Monday: Even More Bunny

Just like the title says, here is even more Bunny for you.  That's Bunny Williams, fabled American interior designer.  I visited her garden in June, as part of the Garden Conservancy's Open Days program.  The garden has beautiful bones, with brick and stone-paved areas, often edged with boxwood.  There are beautiful evergreen topiaries as well.  Also shown in these photos are two of the porches, with fabulous antique garden furniture and ornaments.  In addition to her design business, Ms. Williams has a store called Treillage, which sells antique and modern garden accessories.  Lastly, there are a few photos of the small water feature, complete with giant koi.

I've still got at least one more Bunny post, and two other gardens from my visit to Connecticut.  In the meantime, how is your weather these days?  We've finally gotten a break from the horrible heat wave, and have had a few beautiful summer days.  A few days of rain have helped to replenish the aquifers, too.  Oh, and we have tomatoes!  I planted a few tomatoes in containers on the deck, and we harvested our first cherry tomatoes last week.  I know some of you have big beautiful vegetable and flower gardens, but here in New Jersey, we fight constantly to save our gardens from the enormous deer population.  So we look upon our harvest with particular joy.  :)

Mosaic Monday: Are You On Instagram?

This has been a crazy week for me.  My daughter has been painting her room, which entails spreading it's contents all over the house.  Our master bedroom air conditioner blew a fuse, which required a visit from our friend Ken, the electrician.  And I've had bronchitis.  Woot-woot!

So, I tried to think of a quick and easy mosaic this week, and came up with some of my Instagram photos.  For those of you who don't know, Instagram is a photo-sharing app for your smart phone and mobile devices.  It is also a fun community of people from all over the world who love photography.   If you are already using Instagram, please look me up -- I'm mrcphotography.  Leave a comment on one of my photos there -- I'd love to hear from you!

All these photos were taken at two different parks near my home.  My husband and I walk every morning before work, and I love to snap some quick pictures when the sun is low in the sky.  I also love to take pictures of the small rivers and streams that traverse our part of New Jersey.  They are getting rather low right now, and we desperately need some rain.  Maybe tonight.  Hopefully.  :)

And hopefully I'll be back next week, without the bronchitis and ready to party!  :)

How are you all, dear bloggers? It's been a crazy hot week here in New Jersey, and even hotter in the midwest and south.  I hope everyone has been staying as cool as possible.  I have some more photos from designer Bunny Williams' garden this week.  Here is the vegetable garden, the greenhouse and the working barn.  I love the potting table in the greenhouse -- what a great work station!  And those cactuses?  Cacti?  Succulents?  Aren't they beautiful?  And now that I think of it, perhaps cactus is a fitting subject for this scorcher or a week...  :)

Mosaic Monday: Bunny Williams' Pool House

Oh, has it ever been hot here in New Jersey.  Mid- to high-nineties for the past four or five days, with 90's predicted for the next week.  And yet, I think we have been the lucky ones.  I know that the south and the midwest have had temps in the 100's, and the mid-Atlantic states had terrible storms over the weekend.  I hope and pray all of our blogging friends have been safe!  For those of you who have been suffering the heat and wind and rain, here is a little respite for you, courtesy of Mosaic Monday.

My husband and I visited several beautiful gardens in Connecticut last weekend, including the garden of my all-time favorite interior designer, Bunny Williams.  I thought you might like to see her beautiful pool house and shade garden.  The pool house, built in the Greek Revival style using rustic, bark-covered logs, overlooks some gorgeous Connecticut countryside.  As you can see, it includes a working fireplace, and is decorated with stylish wicker Kooboo chairs and twig furniture.

As you leave the pool house, you can follow the path through the natural garden, which leads to a small pond.  Along the way, there are lots of places to sit and enjoy the cool shade.  Come and sit a while, and enjoy the cool breezes.  :)
