I can't believe I did this. I was at Shop-Rite the other day, getting the usual fun stuff -- peppers, batteries, cat food -- when I came across this bouquet of roses for only $12.99. How could I resist? You probably can't tell from the pictures, but this is a HUGE bouquet, almost 20 stems with several buds on each stem. Yesterday, I moved it from room to room, snapping pictures all day in different lights. (Yes, I am easily amused.) So, rather than clean my house, or empty my garage, or do the laundry, or cook dinner, or...well, you get the idea...I took pictures. A lot of pictures.
Am I the only one who does things like this? Please say no. :)
BTW -- dinner did get cooked, but the rest is still waiting...
;>)
That bouquet is breathtaking! And your wonderful photos are suitable for framing! Housework can always wait when beauty calls. :-) Rosie
ReplyDeleteWell it is spring Mary! you can certainly be forgiven for a serious infatuation with flowers in the spring:>) And they are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe roses are just gorgeous!! The housework will be there, glad you took so time to "stop and smell the roses" lol
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day, Janie
What LOVELY flowers...
ReplyDeleteYour skills with your camera are becoming "print us on note cards" type fabulous! I do hope you open a shop soon and offer your pretty prints to all your fans here in blogland! I hope you are at least THINKING about it!!!
hugs, bj
Oh thank goodness I am not the only one that plays house all day.
ReplyDeleteOne of my daughters friends asked her what does your Mum do if she doesn't go to work. Amy had to think and said oh she spends a bit of time on the computer, babysits the grandkids, does arty stuff, gardens, cleans house, washes and um..... She didn't know what else to say.
Lets just keep on playing.

Hi MAry
ReplyDeleteThe roses are so beautiful. Snapping pictures wins over housework any day in my book. I have found that I am doing the same thing, setting up vignettes and seeing how they look in a photo. I was always a terrible photographer. I was always cutting people's heads off but with still objects I can't do that so my photography has improved immensely.
Enjoy your day.

What a gorgeous bouquet and no you are not alone...
ReplyDeleteI have been known to take pictures of something in every room of my home and different light and outside...
Have a wonderful day!
A gorgeous bouquet, no wonder you couldn't resist. Lovely photos!
ReplyDeleteThe housework can wait...you've got much better things to do.
Have a great day, DebraK
It's so easy to get distracted by such gorgeous blooms! My favorite is the last one! The house can wait!
ReplyDeleteAmanda:)
Beautiful Mary!
ReplyDeleteAnnie
I'm very glad that you gave up everything except dinner for the benefit of your readers.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely breathtaking!!
My answer is "no" because you are not the only one doing this. I feel as if I fritter away lots of time, but, on the other hand, my soul feels satisfied.
Gorgeous flowers! And no... you are not alone in the over abundance of picture taking ;)
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful day!
hugs,
rue :)
You'll never have to convince me on the value of anything to do with roses. I've fallen hook, line and sinker.
ReplyDeleteAnd, you have a distinct way of making everything beautiful.
Oops, sorry - I included the wrong link on my post.
ReplyDeleteSimply gorgeous. Enough to split and place in every room in house. What a great find.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I scoured the magazine section at the grocery store to find Romantic Homes.....there it was....YOUR SOFA. How great! And now I can say I knew you when.

There's a quote that I'm never quite sure what it means but seems to fit here: " the beautiful is as useful as the useful." Hope you enjoyed the flowers. laura
ReplyDeleteGood for you. You have to "stop and smell the roses", and take pictures of them, and display them every once in a while. Housework can always wait til tomorrow. If I'd seen anything that lovely for that price, I'd have splurged too. What a good deal.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are gorgeous.
Beautiful roses and you are not alone. My family has gotten use to me walking around with a camera. At first I would wait till I was alone but now I just snap away all the time.

Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteLoved this post, flowers are supposed to lift the spirit...so glad you stopped and smelled the roses....thanks for the eye candy !!!
Kathy :)
Mary these are gorgeous - they look so real.
ReplyDeleteSince I started blogging, I too take pictures all the time and my housework is waiting as I write!
Good Morning Mary!
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful! So wonderful that a bouquet of flowers can make anyone's day brighter and make them smile. Enjoy them. Oh and yes, I will do anything to avoid my everyday job of cleaning! There will always be more laundry to do, dishes to wash but we really gotta stop once in a while and smell the roses! :)
I do the same thing!!! I posted about it once. Or twice.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing!
One of my favorite things to do is buy myself flowers!!!! If I don't have any from the yard I can cut, I run down to the local grocery store, farmer's market or Trader Joe's and buy them. How can you not feel good when they are so beautiful!
ReplyDeletebeautiful roses! No, you are not the only one who does things like this. I love to take pictures of all my table settings. Like you, I am a chinaholic! A few weeks ago I was having a girls night. Two of my very best friends were coming for dinner. I set a beautiful table, but when I went to take a picture of it, I decided that three place settings looked funny...so I added another just to even it out. A few minutes later my two guests arrived. They looked at the table and asked me if my husband was joining us. I laughed and explained my picture-taking dilemma. They laughed but totally understood...they know me...and they have seen my little scrapbook of my tablesettings!
ReplyDeleteThose flowers are beautiful! What a deal.

Mary,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers! Of course your not the only one who would rather play than do housework, but like someone else said "It satisfies the soul". I like that expression very much. I am reading your blog now, and I didn't finish putting away the groceries yet. (non perishable ones) ha ha
How beautiful! And it sounds exactly like the way I would spend my day :-)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Penny
No you are not the only one to do things like that! What beautiful roses, for $12.99 they would of come home with me too!
ReplyDeleteGREAT pictures. and no, you are not the only one that puts all the work on hold to do something fun!
ReplyDeleteThose are GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteAnd I do that all the time. Move something around into different light. Wait for the sun to move. Move it around again. Try it here. Try it there. I could waste a whole day doing that, then the night photoshopping the pics!
Good for you! And the roses are very lovely! Yes, similarly, I now take detours and side roads, and long walks in order to take photographs.
ReplyDeleteI think that I can actually smell them from here :) Mary, those photos are absolutely stunning. Your blog is truly eye candy :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Dena
Gorgeous roses! I bet they smelled so delicious. How could you not preserve them forever in photos? They were your muse and you had to follow their call. Laundry can wait till another day :-)
ReplyDeleteHugs, Pat
