Heaven

Here's my idea of heaven -- morning sunshine streaming in through the window, and a pile of new (secondhand) books from (yes, you guessed it) the rummage sale. At $3. or $4. each, these decorating books were a steal. So many wonderful pictures, so many great ideas, so much inspiration.

I'll be taking a mental health day soon, to spend a morning with all these beauties. I'm waiting for some sunshine, though. Have a great weekend, dear bloggers! :)

  13. Oh Mary, that is HEAVEN for sure! Books, oh how I love books. You've snagged some real beauties there and you deserve a mental health day. Don't we all?

I feel sorry for whoever we engage to move us when we retire. At last count I have about 2,000 books. OUCH!

Have a wonderful day Mary. You are one of my favorite quiet corner to relax and meet up with friends.

  17. I'm a huge book lover. I've been known to raid the local thrift stores for books. That and ebay. God bless Ebay! I agree 100% that is heaven. There is nothing better than warm sunshine and a good book. Have a great weekend Mary!

  18. What a lovely little post, Mary. I haven't seen the sun for a little while myself, and it's so nice to see the little beam of light with all these wonderful book finds.

I want to come, too, and peruse those lovely tomes. Maybe have a cup of Bigelow tea. The caramel flavor.

Happy Mother's Day, Mary. Always a pleasure to visit your site.

  20. Oh Mary! I am so darn envious! Look at all those books!! It's your fault, you started me on Bunny Williams that I splurged the other day and got another one of hers for $45 with a couple of coupons (a treat for me!) Now to find the time to read it! Think of me when you sit down in the sunshine and lose yourself in those glossy pages! I would so love to be there with you, oohing and aahing! Have a great weekend and Mother's Day! ~ Laurie

  26. What a lucky find! I love decorating books and magazines. I have such a hard time throwing away Country Living and any other magazine with pretty rooms. Have fun taking a mental health day...I know just what you mean by that! I too would wait for the sunshine!

  28. That IS Heaven! I have recently gotten into the habit of going to our local library once every few weeks...I pick up about 5 or 6 books and keep them for a while...leaving them on the coffee table to look through at my leisure...the BEST part is that I can return them and get something fresh without all the clutter! LOL
    Happy Mother's Day!
    hugs,

  30. An excellent posting -- and certainly the best way to spend some downtime -- books, tea and nibbles ..... I do have a copy of the "100 Best Rooms ....." -- and it is a wonderful series of essays on decor from the leading designers of the time. Excellent thoughts and wonderful photos too! One of my very favorites on my bookshelf!
