My husband brought me tulips for Valentine's Day. Four bunches of them, including these beautiful white ones.
I love having fresh flowers in the house in winter. The funny thing is, I think my husband does, too. Isn't that great?
My daughter gave me pink roses for Valentine's Day. Isn't that cute? I love pink roses, and white roses. Oddly enough, red roses just don't float my boat.
So tell me, what is your favorite cut flower?
Just beautiful! Tulips are my favorite flower! Blessings, Loretta
ReplyDeleteYellow tulips, better if with orange shades....but the ones you received are just beautiful in winter!

I don't have a favorite. I love them all. I guess it depends on the season . . .
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I have a favorite, but I carried white tulips in my wedding, so they have a spot close to my heart.
ReplyDeleteAren't you the lucky lady? Those flowers are gorgeous. I think lilys and roses have to be my favorites.
ReplyDeleteTeresa
Roses are my favorite. And, my favorite rose is Garden Party.
ReplyDeleteBut, I love all flowers. Those tulips are breathtaking.
Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of the red rose either..I like a pale ornage rose, a sterling silver rose. Tulips are one of my faves. But my hubby knows to get me a pot pouri of flowers...I love the look of a whole bunch of different flowers in a vase, with lily of the vally and bells of Ireland, tiger lilies...well you get it I am a flower lover :)
Your hubby is a keeper !!
Kathy :)
Tulips and white lilies. Yours are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely flowers you received - lucky you.
ReplyDeleteThere is no way I can choose one favorite flower. Tulips, for sure, but also calla lilies and poppies and Gerber daises. Oh, and hydrangea and daffodils and sunflowers and....
I am quite ready for spring.
Yellow roses are my favorite cut flower followed closely by yellow tulips, but I'll take anything just to have fresh flowers in the house. Yours are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYellow tulips or daffodils, it's a tie. I don't like red roses at all either; I will take yellow roses or that beautiful copper colored rose.

Oh, to choose one flower is so difficult! My favorite flower has to be black eyes susans, but I also love irises, daisies, and hydrangea. I adore wildflowers. Roses are lovely, but give me a vase of simple handpicked wildflowers, and I'm a happy girl!

My absolute fave flower -- Peonies! Masses of Peonies, deepest pink, spilling over a big crystal rose bowl, set upon a chest in the sitting room of a suite at the criminally expensive Brenner's Park Hotel in Baden-Baden, in late May.... right next to the chilled champagne and bowl of ripe fruit.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise: Those little dandelion scrunched-up bouquets from my kids, the flowers (any kind!) my husband picks up at Shop Rite most Sundays... and his 2-dozen red roses on Valentine's Day. He is a traditionalist.
I feel lucky to get any flowers! I love them all. But, oh ... those Peonies!
Enjoy your lovely flowers, Mary! Great photos of them.
Cass
Lovely flowers. I think my favorite (for now) is Astramaris. My all time favorite over the years tends to pop back to yellow roses.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary,
ReplyDeleteYour tulips and rose are lovely. I don't really have a favorite flower I guess. Each one seems to spark a memory..just like music.
There seems to be a melancholy tone to your posts lately and for you I will be glad when the Winter snow melts, Spring is here and the sun warms your face again..
Far and away, it's got to be LILAC! The scent, the color, the old fashioned-ness of them. Perfect.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Laura
Good morning Mary! Finally a moment to catch up weith your beautiful blog. I love the pristine whiteness of the tulips but I have such a soft spot for pink roses! Red roses don't do a thing for me either, give me pink or white every time:>)
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, Mona! I'm trying really hard to keep from complaining because, after all, just missing spring is not a real hardship compared to all the pain and suffering out there... but oh how I wish for warm breezes and soft earth and green shoots poking out of the ground... :)
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Mary
Beautiful pictures.. I love tulips but my favorite flower has always been gerber daisy. Awesome pictures.. what kind of camera do you use? I gave my daughter a new one for Christmas and haven't been pleased with it's quality even though it's a kodak with 11 megapix. I'm hoping to replace mine soon and don't want to make the same costly mistake I did in purchasing hers... any recommendations?
ReplyDeleteThanks
Debbie
my all time favorite cut flower would be hydrangeas or daisies
ReplyDeleteviolets are a fave. lots of them in a little jug. or johnny jump ups (same family) and the lilac bunch is hard to beat for scent - or sweet peas. oh! so many to choose! just thinking of them all is a fun activity, and very spring-y. jkj
ReplyDeleteDebbie,
ReplyDeleteI use a Nikon D40. In addition to the wide angle lens it came with, I also have a macro lens for close-ups and a zoom lens for distance shots. If you don't want a digital SLR camera, I could recommend the Canon digital Elphs. My kids have them, and they are easy to use and take a nice photo. Hope this helps. :)
xoxo
Mary
I love live flowers more than anything and I would have to say any color or variety of Daisy.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful, Mary. I'm partial to daisies.
ReplyDeleteHello! I visit you nearly every day but have only left a comment once or twice. Funny how you are talking about having cut flowers in our home during the winter. I watched "Something's Gotta Give" over the weekend and, besides loving the beach house Diane Keaton's character owns, I love that she had fresh cut flowers in every room!
ReplyDeleteMy short answer: hydrangeas.
I love pink roses... had tons of them at my wedding... and I adore hydrangeas, altho you can't really cut them until close to fall after they turn dark. But I love to dry them and use them for wreaths and holiday decorations. Wonderful pictures, Mary!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics...my hubby is the tulip man....i prefer lilacs or wisteria...but i love all flowers.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, it is hard to beat a big bunch of bright yellow mums - so bright and they last forever!
ReplyDeletetulips, peonies, and daisies of all sorts. it's so wonderful your loved ones know your love of flowers and give in abundance. those tulips are so beautifully arranged.
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time deciding. I love peonies. I used to have a bright pink peony bush at my last house. I miss it! I love wisteria. It makes me think of England. Remember the movie Howard's End? But I think roses are my most favorite because my mother used to grow them.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you...tulips are my very fav, followed closely by lilies. Since I worked for over 20 years in a flower shop, my husband still thinks that I can pick them up for myself...something I've had to have babies for to receive from him (and let me tell you, I'm done with that noise!)
ReplyDeleteSo, occasionally, I will pick some tulips up for myself. Glad you're enjoying yours!
Kelly
Hand down ... purple irises ..... the darker purple the better!
ReplyDeleteOld fashioned roses...and peonies! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the history behind this house! So special.
I love most flowers, but I prefer white ones. White Ranunculas with frezia just opening, baby carnations and greenish white flowers in a tight head in silver mint julep cups. White tulips massed are a favorite.
ReplyDeletePS. I used to love lilies until my cat ate one. Lilies are deadly to cats if not caught within 5-6 hours. FYI.
ReplyDeleteI love all the flowers and I couldn’t say what flower is my favourite. You see, I first saw your tulips and I thought how lovely and charming they were. And then I saw those roses that took my breath away.
