Surprises

As much as I don't really like winter, I still love to wake up to a surprise snowfall in the morning. I think it must be the kid in me, happy at the prospect of a snow day.

And surprise snow is the best.

The reflected light brightens your bedroom, as you push the covers aside and go to the window. And outside the world has been transformed into a magical place -- clean and bright and white.

Thursday morning brought a surprise snow. Just a few inches, but enough to create its own magic. I couldn't resist taking the camera out for a few shots. This beautiful stone bank house, in a nearby town, is one of my all-time favorites. Oh how I would love to get a peek inside. ;)

I have a few surprises for you all next week too. Just a little bit of exciting (for me, anyway) news, and maybe a little celebration that we can all share. Stayed tuned for more information. :)

Please join me for Mosaic Monday. Mr. Linky will be up by 8:30pm Sunday. I look forward to visiting you all. :)

  1. I couldn't agree more, surprise snow is lovely. We woke up to a very heavy frost this morning, which was also nice to see.
The house in your pic is wonderful, and the surrounding streets are very attractive also.
See you on Monday, I wonder what your surprises next week will be?

  9. We haven't had any snow in a while now and I'm really missing it. Glad you had a little to go out and photograph!

I too love the homes with stone facades. One time I worked in one (painting) and the mold was awful not to mention the house was cold. I doubt they're all like that, especially the newer homes. Either way they sure do look pretty from the outside!

    Happy belated Birthday Mary!

  11. Gorgeous pic! I love waking up to the amount of snow you got! Unfortunately, our snow usually comes in major dumps and means there is a lot of snowblowing/shoveling to do before we can start our day. It is true that it provides a pristine beauty which adds light to dark winter days and being a skier, I enjoy it too!

  14. Mary, I also love that stone house, and what a beautiful photo of it with the snow on the ground. I enjoyed your commentary on this post. That's the way I felt yesterday morning when I waked up and it was so bright in the bedroom. We have six inches on the ground, and it is fun for awhile; just don't want it to stay too long. Have a great weekend in the snow. laurie

  15. Happy belated birthday Mary! What a wonderful snow scape picture. I have to agree about waking up to a beautiful snowfall. Wow, that desk you found is awesome. Glad it was still there for you when you went back. Had it been me, it probably would have been gone. Have a great weekend, and stay warm.

  17. Wow! what a lovely photograph and I too would love a peek inside. I wonder why we all like to see other people's houses? Perhaps to get fresh ideas. All our snow in the UK has gone now but it is really cold today.
    Have a good weekend.
