Mosaic Monday: Firemen's Parade

On Saturday our local volunteer fire company celebrated it's one-hundredth anniversary with a parade. All the equipment was lovingly shined, including the antique hose trucks and vintage ambulance. They were joined by neighboring fire companies, the high school marching band, several bagpipe bands and a local private school drum corps. The weather was beautiful, the parade route was lined with appreciative families, and there were cheers all around. :)

Now let's have some mosaic fun! Here are the instructions:

  5. I swear, you won't find a more proud people than the ones in the fire department! Really, have you ever noticed how much time they spend cleaning their trucks and gear and fire station? It's an addiction. LOL!

Look at that old ambulance. Yikes! What a fun time Mary!

  12. I practically grew up in our town's firehouse! So I am definitely proud of volunteer firemen. I used to love riding in both the vintage and the new equipment. I also liked sliding down the fire pole! For my dad's funeral, the department took his casket to the cemetery on the back of the firetruck. What a tribute...
Loved seeing your pics- brought back many memories, Mary!

  16. You've captured that parade beautifully. I'm impressed that glare on the glass in the first photo didn't cause you any problems. I can see that bearded face on the driver so clearly.

Thanks for sharing the parade, the dalmation doesn't seem to want for attention.

  25. Thanks for showing us these great pictures. No wonder every little boy wants to be a fireman at one time or another. when we lived in a small town in BC, the firemen and policemen planned a Christmas party for the children. The highlight was the ride on the firetruck. Luckily my children were small enough that I had to go with them. The 1931 truck is just beautiful!

  39. I love your blog and I love making mosaics. The mosaics I made this week aren't all that thrilling so I'm not linking to this week's party - I'm just visiting.

Just a thought - I really wish your party had thumbnails! Your blog is so visual and surprisingly, mosaics do come across on a thumbnail. They are such good teasers to make you want to click to see more and to help keep straight which you've seen and which you haven't. Regardless, I'll keep coming back to your fabulous blog!

  52. Hi Mary!
I always cry like a dang fool at parades like this.
Those firemen and their trucks look so sharp.

God bless our volunteer firefighters. It is getting harder and harder for communities to attract enough of them. I think it's the last great and absolutely vital "do it yourself" civic service left.

And lots of blue and white at Second Chance? aaarrgghhhhhh!!!!! I must go.

I got a cute milk glass cake pedestal at GW yesterday, in the pouring rain -- just had to pop in on my way home!
