Rainy Day

We've gotten quite a lot of rain here lately, but speaking as a person who has a well, I cannot complain. Besides, it makes the garden grow faster, and it just looks so fresh and pretty as it gathers on the alchemilla leaves, or on the faces of the violets. It also tends to make me slow down a little -- I just cannot bring myself to vacuum on a rainy day. I tend to putter around -- do some laundry or straighten up the pantry or make some soup. So I am going to take it easy today -- slow down a little and enjoy the rain.

Happy Monday, dear bloggers!

I got the most wonderful gift for Mother's Day -- my son came home for a visit! What a terrific surprise, and it was just one of the best Mother's Days ever. :)

  8. Oh Mary, I'm so glad you had such a wonderful day. What a great surprise from your son.

I have the plant that you've featured at the top. I can't remember what it is but I've been known to go outside and stand in the rain just to watch the raindrops collect on the leaves. Beautiful!

  12. I'm so glad you had a visit from your sons. How special for you. My son called by I was out of town! I did get a card from him, though. I was so excited about that. He's newly married so I figure now I'll get cards (wife, "Here's a card for your Mom. Sign it.") I'm not complaining. He has a stressful job and I know he loves me.

What is it about rain that's almost hypnotic? I could stand and watch it for hours.

  15. What gorgeous pictures again. We have had lots of rain here lately too, but a week and a half ago we had snow so I'll take the rain without complaints. I'm so glad that you had a great Mother's Day. That is wonderful. I spent the day surrounded by my family as well. It doesn't get any better than that.

  18. None of my children were able to be here for Mothers' Day, but a lot was done in the garden and I bought two David Austin English roses (wish me luck) to plant. Today is sooo cold and windy...no rain here, but the heat is on!! Can you stand it?

  31. I too just love the way drops of water look on plants, almost as if they were decorated with pretty little crystals from Mother Nature. Plus it all smells so fresh!
