How I Spent My Sunday Afternoon

We had the most beautiful weather yesterday, so I thought I would show you a few pictures of how we spent our afternoon.  First, sitting on the deck.  The weather was just the sort that you remember when the wind is howling in January.

Picking some wildflowers.  Goldenrod and Queen Anne's Lace are really beginning to deck the fields with yellow and white.  I picked these to put on our table at dinner.

And here is dinner.  My husband grilled the most terrific steaks, and I made bruschetta, cucumber salad and corn from a nearby farm.

Finally, a walk in the park as the sun dipped below the trees.  We had a wonderful Sunday.  I hope you did too.  :)

  1. Thank you, Mary. We did have a wonderful Sunday; it is my favorite day of the week.

How wonderful a day it seems you had. Cooler temperatures, quiet breezes, lovely home, companionship and a delicious meal - perfection.

  2. Hi Mary,
I had to go back and look to see where you were from...no where near me! LOL

We have not had any cooler temperatures here....and it will be awhile before the goldenrod blooms!

    Your pictures are great,
    Diane

  3. Awww, wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon. If it ever stops raining, I hope that we get to spend a few like that, too. We've not spent any time on the deck this summer and I miss it.

  10. That looks like the most perfect dinner. Love fresh corn on the cob. Our Sunday was about 100+ degrees, so not much fun being outside this weekend.

  11. Looks like a lovely day; we had a storm just when the charcoal was almost ready...great timing. I must remember to take pictures of dinner, but my deck looks as ratty as my garden about now. Who am I kidding, it hasn't looked good all summer, lol. As much as your garden and mine are suffering from the impending "Dog Days", check out my pix of Seattle where the gardens are so lush it almost hurts your eyes.
