The Kindness of Strangers

One of the things that never ceases to amaze me about blogging is the "kindness of strangers," to borrow a phrase from Blanche DuBois.  I have been the recipient of prayers, good wishes, votes in the photo contest, and even gifts from people I have never met.  And that is something I never would have expected when I began this blog almost a year ago.

I wanted to show you two wonderful paintings I was given by Lynn, who I "met" through flickr, the photo sharing site where I post a lot of the pictures I use for my blog.  Lynn is an artist who lives in Colorado.  She contacted me a few months ago, to ask if she could use some of my photos as subjects for her paintings.  As a thank you, she sent me the two paintings you see above.  The first is a portrait of our cat, Jordan, painted from this photograph.  The other is a beautiful landscape.  Both will look marvelous in our family room -- thank you so much, Lynn!

  10. Such a compliment to your photography skills is in this painting of your cat...what a special gift indeed. I liken blogging to having pen pals when I was young. It was fun then and it is fun now.

  21. This is so touching, Mary. I was just telling someone yesterday, someone who doesn't blog, that I was amazed at how encouraging people are about my blog. It's one of the things that keeps me happy. Keeps me going.

    Encourage each other.

It's a mantra that a lot of us bloggers use, isn't it?

I love the way Lynn changed the picture around a little bit, putting the pillow directly behind Jordan. And the landscape is simply beautiful! Lucky you!
