Resolutions

I'm not big on New Year's resolutions, but lately I've been thinking that perhaps I should consider getting rid of some of the clutter in my life.

Maybe I should stay away from the thrift store.  Not bring home all the pretties that catch my eye.

But my favorite thrift store sends out these emails with photos of all the new arrivals.   So seriously, how could I resist?

Small Staffordshire plate: $2.  Small silver spoon with harvest scene: $2.  New Year's resolution?  Not happening.

  1. I have an entire set of this pattern. My new husband was about to throw out the door. I rescued them and they are wonderful. Love the little bluebird! Have a happy day.

  2. Don't even consider this resolution. ;-) It would just be wrong.

  7. Hi Mary, Happy New Year!
Why stop doing something you really enjoy and love????? You could open up a home museum and share it with other lovers of those treasures!

  9. Thank goodness! Where would we be if you made such a resolution? Perhaps one day you'll open your own store, though...

  11. Amazing, that those beautiful pieces are still out there, to be brought home, and for such bargain prices.

Keep collecting, someone needs to keep these items that understands their worth.

  13. Those are just exquisite pieces and for pennies really. I am so happy they found a sweet home with you at the Little Red House.
    They needed you!
I often say I will rid some of the *clutter* but such pieces give us such pleasure...I am just a born *clutterer* I guess.

    Happy New year Mary...

    Love,
    Sue

  15. That stuff is too great to pass up. In thrifting, you have to grab it when you can. Tomorrow may be barren at the thrift store. Don't worry about your resolution - acquiring something that beautiful can't be that bad! Sally

  18. Mary, but I LOVE your "clutter" -- you did the RIGHT thing purchasing the transferware plate and the relief harvest spoon! That spoon is to DIE FOR!

  19. I was holding my breath as I read this, and hoping you would come to those beautiful senses of yours. I mean they send you emails. : )

    I love it over here.

  20. What good would a perfect person be if inside she was dying for lack of thrifting? Some itches just have to be scratched, don't you agree?

  22. I am SO proud of you for caving in and doing your thrift store thing...but...perhaps I am just being selfish. I mean, coming here and drinking in all the lovelies you bring home is an addiction I don't want to give up..either.
    So..enjoy!!

  24. I, too, am feeling the need to de-clutter. I have been staying away from the thrift shops a little and giving my daughter and daughter in law everything they want...I have packed up a few dishes and other collections for grandchildren .....and.....I HAVE A SET OF BRAND NEW DISHES ARRIVING JUST ANY DAY NOW !! Oh, my...what's a girl to do when she loves dishes so much???

  25. Love the plate and spoon... as for resolutions... they have no place in my life... I am what I am and that's all that I am.

  26. HAHA..you got me nervous there! I thought...NO, don't do it! I love looking at all your "clutter". And I sure wish a thrift shop around here would send me emails with pictures. It would save me the time of going there and being disappointed because they didn't have anything I want. Love, love, love the plate and cute spoon! Keep thrifting!

  27. Love that plate Mary, but after all the "dumping" of the past month, to say nothing of the ensuing tendonitis, I can't fathom bringing anything "new" into my house. Well, maybe if I thru some of my stuff the way of Good Will I could make room for the plate, lol.
