I thought I would post about trying to make a flower arrangement on Friday, but we had a few electrical and internet issues here. Earlier in the week, the power company replaced an electrical meter, which was the beginning of our problems.
Every time the water pump for the well ran, our lights dimmed. On Thursday night, our three-year-old microwave sounded like it was on it's deathbed. Power surges were putting our electrical appliances in danger. We called the power company, who sent out a man to replace the meter for the second time.
Soon after he left, however, we realized that the problems were still with us. Friday morning, our cable service died. The power company came at one o'clock. They were still here at 2:30 when the cable guy came. We had the power turned off at that point, so we had to live without TV, phone and internet service for another day. Aaaaarrrrgh!
It was finally determined that the service line into the house had to be replaced. Luckily, my friend Robin's husband is an electrician, and he came to our rescue. Our power was restored by 3:30pm. But we had to wait another 24 hours for the cable service to be repaired. I swear it was the longest 24 hours of my life! LOL
Anyway, I'm so glad to be back online, and able to visit all my bloggy friends. So these flowers are for you. Happy Monday! :)
Thank you for the beautiful bouquet - and the wonderful photos. I missed you.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you are finally all "fixed". I hate it when my modern conveniences are not working. I am spoiled, and I like it that way.
I can just imagine how frustrating that must have been.
ReplyDeleteThe flowers are lovely.
I hate that when it happens!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the bouquet. What a great way to start a Monday!
Welcome back! Nice to have friends in the business, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are back. The flowers are lovely, thank you! You were missed. Cass
ReplyDeleteSounds like life in the hill country! Sorry you had to go through all of that. We have power surges and electrical issues frequently and are also on well water and.........one thing leads to another. Hope this is the start of a great week for you!
ReplyDeleteYikes. I cannot imagine, and I wondered where you were. I thought you had scampered off to a sunny beach;)
ReplyDeleteI missed you but I am glad that you are back and doing okay. Debbi
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful bouquet...Thank you! Please stop over and have yourself a muffin and hot cup of your favorite beverage with me. I would so enjoy your company! It is terrible to be without the electrical things we are so used to in life, isn't it!
ReplyDeleteSo glad things are back to normal for you. Thanks for sharing the lovely bouquet. Is that a Heisey cream pitcher there beside it? My sister just gave me a set of Heisey Iris. It's so beautiful; we used it last night.
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday to you too Mary, glad you are all fixed !!
ReplyDeleteKathy :)
These internet connections are so much more fragile than we think, yet the pull to visit our buddies is so strong. I can appreciate how difficult it was to be offline for that long. Glad to see you back!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos today...
something similar happened at my brother's house when the pressure washer people blew out the circuits in his old house. glad you're back and hope it's all better now. Love the arrangement.
ReplyDeleteWe had the exact same sequence of events happen to us - but when the internet went out it took them three attempts to find that the power company had cut through the cable while doing their disastrous work (making lights dim, replacing meters three times, messing up the whole thing) - you'd think they'd have this all figured out by now and get it right. Then it took five different crews to dig a ditch, lay the conduit for the new cable to be buried in, disconnect and reconnect the cable, fill the ditch and tamp down the spot where the ditch was - and they left a very expensive tool here and never came back for it - no wonder bills are so high.
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures.
I'm glad you're back on line too!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos!! Purple (and green- various shades) are my favourite colours- so I loved this bouquet!
ReplyDeleteI completly understand the internet junkie thing-I'd have withdrawl big time if I lost my internet...it's my lifeline to the world outside of Helgøya here in Norway!!!
Thank you for the pick me up. Oh my the weather in my sweet little town, and then looking at those gorgeous flowers, makes me want to plant something!!! Spring, please come soon! Loving your blog.
ReplyDeleteSo that's where you've been. I'm so glad that things got sorted out! And the flowers are gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteAfter reading about Bunny Williams's "An Affair with a House" on your blog, I bought the book last week -- and I adore it! Her house is just awesome, and I love her decorating tips as well as all those stories about the estate. So thank you for the recommendation!
Happy Monday Mary....glad to see you back. Sorry you had such electrical troubles....hope your heat wasn't out too...have a better rest of the week. Sue

Remember when the Internet was new and you had to call long distance to get connected and people wracked up huge phone bills because they became addicted to this new phenomenon? I always knew that once I started down this slippery slope I would become addicted and here I am...a full fledged in need of a 12 Step Program addict. But it is just so darned much fun and how else would I have met such fun , like-minded women?

You take such amazing photos - I just love them! (and I am a bit jealous - I don't know how you do it!) And I wasn't sure which post to add this comment to, but the flowers here are especially nice, but I icould add this comment to all your posts!
