A Little Treat

So, the first thing you need to know is that I'm a coward about going to the dentist.  Which I had to do yesterday.   So on the way home, as a little treat, I stopped at a thrift store.

They had mostly clothes, but on a small shelf in the corner, I spied this piece of Wedgwood Jasperware.  It's a tiny dish, about four inches across.  Maybe to put on a dressing table?

Don't you love the little figures?

It was $5.  I'm not sure if that is a good price, but I just fell in love with the little dish.  And after all, it was a nice little treat.  ;)

  2. Ohhhh...that is so cute, Mary! WHAT ARE YOU DOING UP AT THIS HOUR? :) And, I also went to the dentist..but my husband took me so NO treat for me! Shoot! What an unusual little plate. Not exactly sure what it could be used for..maybe just to put in a pretty stand and look at it? I'm not sure I would want to put stuff on those little figures. You...might have just bought something really...you know...terrific? That would be interesting! :)
THAT camera ...wow..the photo's you take are ...LOOK at the wood grain in the table...
    Hope your day is wonderful.

  3. It's beautiful! I don't like going to the dentist either. Especially after I saw Dustin Hoffman in Marathon Man. That about did it for me.

  4. Did the dentist give you a sticker? If not, then you had to treat yourself.

I love this, and I love the color.

  5. You got a FANTASTIC price! They can get crazy expensive on eBay. Well, they do here in AUstralia, at least. It's so sweet! I would have snatched it up as well :)

  6. I can promise you that you cannot find a piece of Wedgewood for $5 anywhere. It is a sweet piece.

I love going to the dentist. It is the only place where someone tells me I am perfect.

  8. While almost nothing makes going to the dentist OK, this comes close. What a cute dish!

Love the little guy with the loincloth over his head; not sure what they're up to, those little cherubs, but they look like they are having fun.

Great bargain for Jasperware; I've got to get out to the thrift stores!

  11. You have amazing thrift stores in your area! (And amazing timing for such good finds!) I think I need to go east for a little retail therapy cuz I don't find things like that 'round here at all!

  12. Everytime I read your blog and see your treasures I want to grab my purse and head up the road to our thrift store. But, I never find the cute things that you do!

What a great treat for going to the dentist.

  14. Mary, especially after a trip to the dentist, it was $5 much better spent than on a bag of Lindt candy. I think that's the perfect size dish on a dresser to capture the watch, the earrings, the stray button. Sweet in the best way.

  15. I have a few Jasperware pieces. They are sturdy and can even be washed in the dishwasher. They are just porcelain that has been fired without a glaze. I think you got a good price on it.

  25. What a great idea. I have a friend who treats herself to a new item of clothing after visiting the dentist. The thrift shop is even more fun!

  26. Oh my goodness! I have exactly the same thing! The stamp on the back says, Wedgewood, Made in England.

  27. I DO love Wedgwood---I was absolutely fascinated on our tour a couple of years ago, to bend and watch the cups and saucers as they traveled the enclosed conveyor through the flames, through rooms the length of a football field, it seemed.

I think this might be close to your little dish:

And your dentist would LOVE your treat---much better than a muffin!
