Cape May Victorian

At the very southernmost tip of New Jersey is the beautiful town of Cape May. Filled with Victorian houses, the town is a feast for the eyes.

A fire destroyed much of the town in 1878, resulting in a great flowering of Victorian architecture.

Many of the houses sport very elaborate gingerbread trim and bright, cheerful colors.

The porches are amazing.

Isn't this pink one (above) beautiful?

Some are private homes, but many are businesses or bed & breakfasts.

Even the most unprepossessing has it's share of gingerbread. :)

We didn't have a lot of time to tour the town, and we will definitely be going back to visit again. There are so many great Victorians that I didn't get a chance to photograph. lol

  13. Good Morning Mary,

Glad you had a nice time on your vacation. We have gone to Cape May many times. It's a lovely town. My favorite is the pink house. When we visited it was like a fufu boutique. To the left of the house was a beautiful garden filled with flowers. We took a picture of our daughter in there. Do they still have the buggy rides there?
    Thanks for sharing. :)

  21. I am heading there in 32 weeks, and staying at a B & B. I went there summers as a child when they were "pre-victorianized". Much cheaper, not so elegant. We go every Dec. for w christmas-y weekend.
