This is just about the only flower in my garden right now. Seriously. I've been neglecting the beds and weeds abound. Most of my other plants have already bloomed and faded, but this brave little coreopsis soldiers on.
You've gotta love a plant that is so earnest. :)

ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful flower, Mary! Great composition!
ReplyDeleteYes I have to comment on the composition. Great pic. This hot dry weather in Ky. is hard on everything. I can barely keep my containers watered can't stand to be out and water the perennials too. Blessings

And a photographer who can capture that little soldier... Whatever this technique is, it's very pretty.
ReplyDeleteHow delicate...love the backlighting of the petals. Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful photo!! I am always completely amazed at the ability of weeds to take over the garden while our backs are turned. This year is worse than just about any year that I can remember.

Oh Mary I know what you mean...my vegetable garden is a MESS with weeds everywhere. I was doing so well even in the hot dry weather ..then the rains hit on the long weekend and we got 6.5 inches of rain in less than 3 days. Now the hot humid weather is here and the mosquitoes are out! Your photo is beautiful... as usual. Thank heaven's for plants like this one that is forgiving and keeps on blooming despite our neglect. That's going on my list for our future garden here at the farm! I hope you have a wonderful Sunday....Maura :)
ReplyDeleteHi Mary,
ReplyDeleteGreat shot...gotta love this lone guy ~ looks like he's got a buddy about to bloom as well! I love your title, too. Have you ever heard of Basia? She's a singer and one of her songs is "Brave New World". She has a pure voice with quite a range...
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Sharlotte
My blooms are sad, too. It's like the middle of August in NJ!
ReplyDeleteKind of like some people I know. laurie
ReplyDeleteOh my!! but standing alone and tall is gorgeous as well.. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteKat :)
Bello questo fiore giallo che si staglia sopra ogni cosa !
ReplyDeleteBuona domenica.
Beautiful photo and flower, Mary! Our weather has been so hot lately, the plants and flowers are all struggling to survive.
ReplyDeleteI love the moonbeam coreopsis! It does have strength in its apparent fragile stature. It is bold in color standing tall, not afraid to stand out. Very nicely done! Cathy
ReplyDeleteI just love that little flower!
ReplyDeleteMy flower beds have all been neglected too but mostly because it was so wet so late here (like until the first part of July) that things are way overgrown! I'm slowly catching up. :)
That is a good post, reliefs me and give me the idea for another mosaic next week.
