Once upon a time, there was a little rectangular tole tray. It had pretty roses and daylilies and daisies painted on it. It lived in a dusty old antiques shop.
But one day, a nice lady came in and oohed and ahhed over the tole tray. She said, "You should come home and live in my Little Red House!"
And it did. And it liked it!
The End.
I'm linking this post to Cindy's Show & Tell Friday. Thanks, Cindy, for being such a sweet host!
Oh how lovely! I would have invited this beautiful try to come home with me as well...so pretty. I want ot take a tole painting class one day...among all the other things I want to learn. tfs! =0)
ReplyDeletePerfect ending! It is a sweet little tray and the unusual shape makes it all the more delightful.
ReplyDeleteThat's every dusty tole tray's dream, I think. :)

Hi Mary...

Very well done!!! Love the vibrant colors!!! Cathy
ReplyDeleteHow nice the lovely lady brought it to her lovely home.
ReplyDeleteI love a happy ending!! Can't wait to see it as a background in your photos:)
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of tole trays with some of the paint starting to chip off...Do you have any special treatment you give your trays to preserve the paint?
The photograph cought my eye; the words warmed my heart. Thank you.
ReplyDelete¡Really lovely!!!
ReplyDeleteA kiss
That one is a keeper Mary; I love the daylilies on it. I am finding they are getting harder to find ( the trays, not the daylilies) and more expensive. Lately I am drawn to the older, rusty, crusty ones which are evn more expensive...go figure !
ReplyDeleteAnd now here it is being featured front and center. I am sure it thinks it has died and gone to heaven:-)

This is my first visit to your blog, it's lovely! Funny, we have a lot in common, I'm 50 something and married to an attorney with a great sense of humor, and I just dug out my late mom-in-laws tole tray! LOL!!! When you have a moment please "visit" me in New England, I love company and new Followers are exciting! I enjoyed my visit today!

Mary you make me want to redo my home and go shopping.. I smile. Love the tray. There is a lot of work into that one and it is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAlso photographed to perfection.
When I saw your tray, I thought we had twins! I ran upstairs to check mine, only to discover that mine is merely a kissing cousin to yours! I found mine at an estate sale last fall for $20 and was pleased as punch to have it. I hope mine feels it has as nice a home as yours does. *grin*

I think the tole tray would have been happy to come home to Pondside too....but now that it's settled into the Dear Little Red House, perhaps it's best to let it be............
