By the time we have awakened this morning,
we will see something like this scene
outside the windows
at our Little Red House.
We will don warm coats and scarves and mittens,
and venture out into a world
made fresh with white.
And when the driveway has been shoveled,
and the birds have been fed,
and many, many pictures have been taken, ;)
we will stomp the snow off our feet,
and go inside to the warm kitchen,
where we will make hot chocolate,
with marshmallows (of course).
We will sit before the fire,
toasting our toes
and reading,
blankets over our laps.
We will look at the new white world outside,
and be thankful
that we are warm, and dry, and fed,
and together.

"Lovely to look and and beautiful to see," but how I hate the cold!!! These are truly lovely scenes! Have a toasty warm day! Cathy
ReplyDeleteSounds perfect. Our snow has all gone here now, but i'm sure we shall have some more because winter has a way to go yet. It is so pretty and everything is transformed by newly fallen snow. But doesn't ir look dreadful as it is going - dirty, black, slushy muck. Enjoy it today!
ReplyDeleteMary,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. Stay warm.
Carol
Such beautiful photos and a wonderful story. Our world has been white here in north east Tennessee for a while. I've not gotten out in it, but maybe it's time I had a snowball fight with my kids. The hot chocolate sounds good! Enjoy your day and the nice warm fire. :)

That's a wonderful story, Mary. No snow here in Sacramento, CA, but it has been freezing -- at least for us. We were colder the other day than in snowy Lake Tahoe. Looks like it'll be warming up for us, though. I so enjoy your posts.
ReplyDeleteI love your snow story! Our snow is starting to melt away. Maybe I should write a mud story! Carla
