I had so much fun reading all your answers to "Do Tell" yesterday, and I'm slowly working my way through all your Mosaic Monday entries. But I'm also a little stretched with holiday preparations.
So I'm just going to leave you with some photos of the Christmas decorations in our tiny den. And I'm not kidding when I say tiny -- it's around 10 X 12. The size of a walk-in closet.
As a relief from all the reds in the rest of the house, the den is done in golds and browns. Our ceilings are 7ft. high, and we tend to choose short, fat trees. This one almost didn't make it through the doorway. lol
Well, I have to run. Every year it's the same -- the chores seem to expand to fill the time available. I wish I were the organized, planning type but alas, I'm not. So I'm going to spend the next few days running around like a chicken with my head cut off. :)
Quick question: Are you all up for Mosaic Monday next week? Or will you be too busy? Let me know what you think. I'm not sure about it yet...
Beautiful home! Love your style... so warm.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas

Your Christmas tree is darling Mary. I like the way you scrunched up the skirt underneath too. I also like short fat tree's because they tend to look fuller. Everything is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBtw, had you thought of using ribbons to hang your ornaments? I got the idea from the cover of the latest Victoria magazine (which I believe you have). It really does look so pretty, and you can choose coordinating colors. I don't think I'll ever go back to the old metal hangers. That ornament is gorgeous!!!
I love your tree. You take such great pictures, someday I hope to learn that skill. Your den is about the size of my living room, so I have a tall skinny tree so that I can still move around in the room. The perils of living in a small house..lol!
ReplyDeleteHey, my husband would say that's a Chanukah Bush! :-)
ReplyDeleteAdorable chubby little tree, and I think a cozy den (that's Real Estate lingo for "small") is just exactly right-- a den should be snug around you. I love the color scheme -- soft and "round" -- no hard edges! Very dreamy. I can hear "The Night Before Christmas" echoing in there.
I've got electricians here now doing all sorts of things to outlets in the kitchen and outside, changing the dining room switches --- and my house is still not "ready" for Christmas. Or for a party for 40 we are having on Sunday (barring a blizzard.). I have been doing a lot of wheel-spinning this year. Alida got home from CA at midnight on Wednesday -- and that seems to have focused me a little better. That, and her sour apple martinis.
Having adult children is a trip.

Well Mary,
ReplyDeleteYour place looks just as homey and warm as can be. Sometimes the smallest room is the most comfortable.
Merry Christmas, etcetera, etc, etc.

Love your Christmas tree and the colors chosen. It all looks rich, homey, a place where you just want to sit with a cup of tea or coffee, a good book and relax in the beauty and love of the room.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Christmas and a great new year.

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing photos of your den. I love it! I think dens should be small and cozy. Love your decor and love the fabric on your sofa.
ReplyDeleteI'm running around like a chicken too. Youngest son arrived home from college last night and still shopping. We always seem to get it done though. Merry Christmas! --Delores

I don't think I'll be up to MM. And let me say, I love your color choice with the browns and golds. LOVE that.
ReplyDeleteIt's all simply beautiful, Mary. I love the cozy feel of your den.
ReplyDeleteI have a good start on Mosaic Monday. The grand finale of the decorating here. Well, it isn't that it's the last of the decorating, but the last to make an appearance at the Back Porch.
Mosaic Monday motivates me!:-)
Sometimes small can be the best!, and you do have a really nice den. All the colors make it warm and cozy! I think a lot of people are running around like chickens since I have seen quite a few blog pauses. Sometimes you just need to stop, take a deep breath, and run all over again!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays to you!
