I've still got two trees to decorate, gifts to wrap, the entire house to clean and a ton of laundry to do. Yes, 2000 lbs. of laundry. I'm not baking because if I bake I eat.
And trust me, I do not need to eat any baked goods. ;)
And we are under a winter storm warning. Eight to fourteen inches. Which means that I need to get some salami and Italian bread in the house. Because I come from a long line of stress eaters, and snow calls for salami and Italian bread. And hot chocolate. And soup. And cookies. Right? Maybe I should just bake after all.
But at least we'll have a white Christmas. :)

Will some of you join me for Mosaic Monday? I hope so! Mr. Linky will be up by 8:30pm Sunday.
brrrrr, Mary...that is an awfully lot of snow!
ReplyDeleteWe have had white Christmases over the years but I doubt that we will this year. Yesterday, while out shopping, I discovered it was almost 70 degrees...AMAZING for this time of year, out here in West Texas....
See ya on Monday!
xo bj
Go for it! Bake those cookies Mary! It sounds so cozy by you.
ReplyDeleteI'll be joining for Mosaic Monday!
Have a wonderful weekend!
We're already snowed in here in Central Virginia, with the worst of it yet to come. The Christmas tree is decorated (only one this year). We also plan to clean house and do mountains of laundry. Maybe I'll start baking ... maybe not.
ReplyDeleteHappy Snow Day!
Connie
No snow here in SW Florida. It is weird because our frame of reference is so different living here. The house looks like Christmas but you walk outside and it feels like Spring.
ReplyDeleteI have had so many Google problems-and it isn't over-Google has no idea how to solve the problem.
Sorry I haven't been by much-I decided after weeks and weeks of non-stop Google issues, I am throwing my hands up and making much needed visits.
I hope you have a Very Merry Christmas and hope you can come by for a visit.
Cheri
What an honest to goodness post...I loved it :)
ReplyDeleteWell it sounds like you should get the snacks out and put the fire on and decorate the tree enjoy being home while it snows. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteForget the laundry, bake some cookies and settle down with some hot chocolate & a good book.
ReplyDeleteIt snowed here in Normandy last night too, quelle surprise.
See you on Monday.
Maggie
I am pretty sure I want to be at your home for snow...smiles.
ReplyDeleteIt snowed here in the UK on Thursday and Friday and it is VERY cold especially at night!! The side roads are a bit dangerous and slippery but the main roads are fine.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to MM, see you there!! Jackie in UK.
I'm in NJ too, so I'm caught in the same storm. I have a rather large to-do list as well, so I will be kept quite busy staying indoors!
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm in Midcoast Maine and the warnings are out SNOW AT THE COAST.
ReplyDeleteMary
Cuddle up and have that Hot Choc.
Cookies make the house smell so good.
Can I come over??
Yvonne
We already have about a foot of snow here in Maryland and the drifts are even higher. It's blowing like crazy here.
ReplyDeleteThe snow is falling here in Toms River too and guess what? I'll be baking cookies today too. I waited so I wouldn't be tempted to eat them but this day is perfect for baking so...I guess I'll just work off the calories shoveling!
ReplyDeleteHow nice, a white Christmas! I hear you about all the things to do. Sometimes a mom wonders if the entire holiday is up to her! I hope you find time to watch the snow fall and maybe bake a few cookies (to give away of course).
ReplyDeleteMary, I know what you mean about the baking thing!
ReplyDeleteI've found that baking half batches...enough for everyone to enjoy just one serving…satisfies my crowd. Try making a cookie dough that freezes well so you can bake just a few at a time instead of dozens that "need" to be eaten quickly by you:)
I recently replaced my nine-inch springform pan with a six-inch pan for our Christmas cheesecake. Now I can prepare half a recipe, serve a luscious desert, and please my family without all those pesky leftovers beckoning!
Love your blog by the way…Merry Christmas!
We just went out for more salt for the snow and cookies and comfort food. My husband said the store was a madhouse! Stay warm and cozy!
ReplyDeleteClaudia
Just bake, it's that time of year when you need comfort food. I have made chutney this afternoon - a special recipe which can be seen on my blog. I also made some ginger marmalade ready for Christmas Day breakfast and tomorrow I am going to make some gingerbread biscuits to give as last minute gifts to my friends and neighbours.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy yourself whatever you are doing.
Mary, you sound so busy! Hope that you can get a junior baker on the job because snow always means cookies, though I do think that bread and salami is very good, too. Enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteSalami and Italian bread *swoon*...I will bring some brie and red wine too...how does that sound. How I would love to get snowed in. Enjoy your white Christmas...can't wait to see the photos!
ReplyDeleteThe snow on the eastern part of the US somehow passed very gently by me. Just a small amount of snow, then freezing rain, then just plain old rain to melt and wash away any sign of the storm.
ReplyDeleteBake those cookies, you will glad you did when you have a cup of hot cocoa in your hand. I am baking cheesy biscuits for tomorrow morning, but I might have to sneak one tonight.
You guys may be snowed under! Better get those goodies in the house!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
do christmas preparations ever stop till christmas...no. hope you are enjoying.
ReplyDeletehappy december.
16 so far here on Eastern LI, and blowing..I baked, made soup did 2 trees...So why don't I go to bed, LOL
ReplyDeleteI hope you got your salami and bread..I went yesterday, and the deli counter had 15 people waiting..I'd rather eat tuna than wait that long for some ham and cheese!
Stay safe and warm!
South Central Pennsylvania is snowed in. I baked all day making cookies, cake loafs and fudge. I already have a refrigerator full of dips. We also had the TV on watching one holiday movie after another.
ReplyDeleteI have still got a lot to do over here, except we have no storms in the forecast! Happy Holidays
ReplyDeleteOh do bake, it brings so nice of a flavour into the house on top of the pine scent...
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and do take that rest soon.
i didnt realise you would have to decorate more than one tree! bake.. if only for the smell.
ReplyDeleteI never know if I should bake or not bake ...because of the same reason, then I eat!!!! But with all that snow ... get the salami, bread and go ahead and bake and eat!!!! Sounds like fun to me!
ReplyDeletehahah, you're funny - but I'm the same way - when it snows the oven door AUTOMATICALLY flies open and begs to be used!! Has the snow passed yet? Good luck digging out - actually, you'll need extra strength when the time comes SO, E.A.T! ! !
ReplyDeleteJust reading about Salami, and bread is making me crave that. And we aren't even getting snow.
ReplyDeleteJen
My post is up Mary...I just won't be able to link on till later tonight!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas friend.
Oh, you are so lucky!!! And no matter what...I'm STILL dreaming of a white Christmas!
ReplyDeletem ^..^
We have dodged the snow 2 nights here in Ky. Just sleet and rain. I don't care if it snows or not. I am ready. My mosaic is up and ready to go. Thanks Mary for all your work on this. I can smell the cookies all the way here.
ReplyDeleteQMM
I do love all the gold tones. Now go bake up a storm----oops not the storm outside. MB
ReplyDeleteSnowed here, too! Amazing how something so pretty and light can be so heavy when you shovel it! You've got good snacks :)
ReplyDeleteLove your picture!
Merry Christmas, my friend.
