Many thanks to everyone who left me get-well wishes -- reading all your comments really cheered me up. I'm on antibiotics for the pink eye, and the sore throat and ear aches are receding, leaving just a nasty, tickly cough, which is keeping me up half the night. And a general malaise. But I think that may be more a symptom of the weather and the end of the holidays. I need to get out in the sunshine, but right now I feel as though I could sleep through the entire winter.
So I'm going to be brief today, and just leave you with a few pictures of some things I got at the thrift store last week, before the head cold from hell struck. I just couldn't resist the two small handpainted bird plates pictured above. They even came with the plate hangers already attached -- perfect for the kitchen.
Here are two tarnished candlesticks, currently joining the fun on the dining room table, which still has the centerpiece from Christmas day. I've been feeling so lousy that I haven't taken down any of the Christmas decorations yet. Hopefully today I'll get a start on that.
Finally, a small chintz butter pat plate, and a piece of Clarice Cliff transferware. You had to know I couldn't resist that.
Hope you all have a great week. I've missed so many of your posts; I've got a lot of catching up to do. But right now, I'm going to take a nap! :)
Glad to hear that some progress is being made so that you are soon feeling much better. Enjoyed the dishes. You find such lovely things. I have a collection of blue and white currier and ives pattern dishes from memory lane. This past summer, I added a set of red and white dishes from Mason I think the pattern is Vista. Another Yard sale find. Have a great day. Wishing you well! Janie
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so glad to hear you are at least feeling SOME better. Boy, you really have had quite a round of it all.
ReplyDeleteI love every piece you bought at the thrift. All of them are just beautiful!
Hoping your day today is a much better one.
hugs, bj
So glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
ReplyDeleteI love all your finds. My favorite is the transfer-ware piece. You are a marvelous shopper :-)
Glad you're over the worst of the post-Christmas blech. Every time I read one of your posts and see your photos I sigh and think "I need a thrift store!" When I was growing up my mother used to go to a fantastic little thrift shop in Sherborn, Massachusetts. I still have some gorgeous sweaters and fur pieces and enameled trays from there, but I've never come close to finding such a thing south of the Mason-Dixon line.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're feeling better!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're feeling better Mary. Your finds at the thrift shop are lovely! Take care and have a good day.

ReplyDeleteGet well soon. After living in the Southwest I could never live in the east again. I am addicted to the sunshine and blue skies along with the wide open spaces - What I do miss are decent thrift stores, antique stores...

I was so sorry to learn that you have been ill, and do hope that you are feeling better now. I just love your thrift store finds. During Christmas holidays I did read your older posts and I can really see that you have an eye for thrifting. I also noticed that we share a special love for the same decorating book "An Affair with a House" by Bunny Williams. I bought mine last summer, and it is a favourite of mine. I keep going back and reading it again and again.
ReplyDeleteI love the transferware bone dish...I have scads of bone dishes from my Great Grandmother....Glad to hear you are a bit better and are taking your meds!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Robin

Hi Mary
ReplyDeleteI has here much to work - the year must again be furnished... others it will similarly be issued.
There it is beautiful to stay at your location one moment to regard over all the beautiful...

Ok...I need those bird plates. I never find any thing good at our Thrift. Mary, I am so sorry you have been sick. I didn't know but glad you are on the mend. I used to dread the winter months of Jan. and Feb. but with this new found thing called blogging and my website I am so busy I think those months will fly by. xoxo Lynn P.S. Plant your bulb!
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better soon! You have great thrift stores! I think if I saw that chintz butter pat at a thrift store I would squeal out loud!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are feeling more like your old self! Sounds like you had a whopper of a cold--but doesn't the shopping finds just make you feel great?
ReplyDeleteMary- I hope you are feeling better soon, no fun when you can't get to the thrift store!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the goodies you posted , especially the Clarice Cliff "Tonquin" bone dish- that's my "special occasion" dishes! Love, love , love it! Is the bird plate on the left from the Johnson Bros. Birds of North America series? It looks very similar to one I used to have! We seem to like alot of the same things!
Get well soon, and go "junking"!
Bramble
I love all of your treasures...just perfect for the little red house.
ReplyDeletePink eye is awful isn't it? Poor Mary to be hit with all of this at once!
I am sending you a big hug and get well wishes...
Love and hugs,
Sue
You always find such cute things. Hope you continue to recover.
ReplyDeleteThe little bird plates are so cute, but my heart went pitter pat over the transferware plate! I hope you are able to shake this flu very soon sweetie and get fully back on deck!
ReplyDeleteAmanda (aka Cottage Contessa)
So glad you're feeling better, Mary! Be taking good care and staying on the mend. :o) LOVE all your new pretties. This is a great place to go to for eye candy--LOL! Happy week ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone! Bramble, as far as I know, the bird plate is not Johnson Bros. There is no marking on the back, and it really looks hand painted.
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Mary
Good to know that you are on the mend. Love your little Clarice Cliff fish plate! I used to collect them...seems that nobody else knew what they were, but I find that they work so well for holding earrings or even as an odd candy dish.
