Thrift Needlepoint

I think part of the lure of going to the thrift store is that you never know what you will find. That and the feeling of searching through someone else's attic. So what does that say about me? That I'm a thrill-seeking voyeur? A nosy pack rat? :)

I usually come home with some sort of dish, or maybe some flower prints or a piece of silverplate. But last week, I stumbled upon four sweet little needlepoint pictures -- two of flowers and a pair of children in old fashioned costume. As usual, I just couldn't resist. :)

  1. You must truly have wonderful thrift stores where you live. I have been so inspired by you and other "treasure seekers" in blogland to go and look but I always come out empty handed. You always share such wonderful finds with us :-) I like the idea of having something you know another person labored over and cherished. ((hugs)) Rosie

  3. Hi, Mary...these are all 4 just precious. I, too, love browsing and digging thru other peoples things. I always wonder with ea treasure I find, "How in the world did THIS end up in a thrift store?" Sometimes, it makes me sad...like estate sales where you walk thru and there's her clothes hanging in the closet or his fishing gear out in the garage. I usually just stay away from those kind of sales...too sad.
You did good on your trip to the thrift store....Ck my posting today as I went thrifting, too.....

  7. The fact that you can find hidden treasures in your own home still blows me away. But you DO have a knack for finding the good stuff anywhere.

And I agree that you must have some wonderful thrift stores.

  9. You found some great treasures. I am stopping my a nearby Goodwill today with a few donations - mostly from other family members and friends. It's the incentive I need to go inside and shop! Maybe I'll find something sweet and wonderful. Thank you for sharing your new finds. ~Adrienne~

  17. Mary, I always love your finds! I too will more than likely pick up a needlepoint when I spot one. I've collected several of those small ones like that to use on the front of a pillow and now have several. So classic & pretty.

And, how neat that all your wallpaper is so classic & totally fits the style of your house. I can see why you still love it. I'm attracted to wallpaper, just scared to put anymore up. I've stripped my share over the years!
